Flowers, candy, out for dinner, in for dinner, jewelry--What are you planning and/or hoping for?

This will be my first Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and I'm going to be out of town for it.
I've got an out of town charter that leaves Wednesday and doesn't return until late Friday evening. Then we've got the Daytona 500 this weekend and my company will be busy with that so we won't be celebrating until February 23rd but it will be worth the wait!!
We were able to book a room at Pop for the night thanks to Terrisue at MJ, I bought tickets for Cirque (he's never been) and we've got dinner ressies at Wolfgang Puck, I've been wanting to go there for awhile.

My DH won't be here so he bought me a membership to WDCC. Cinderella arrived Friday. I'm so excited. I love collecting the pieces and I'm not one for flowers or chocolates.

I work 7a-7p, DH works 3p-6a. No Valentine's day for us. Oh well.

I really don't care much for Valentine's Day...maybe it's because DH and I have been together so long (almost 14 years, married 8), it's just not that big a deal. I'd much rather have DH buy me flowers for NO reason, than because he feels he HAS to. :o)

That said, we are celebrating the day before with dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot. 2 reasons we're going out the night before: 1. cheaper, 2. DD5 is coming with us, and I can appreciate that Vday is a couples thing and won't inflict my daughter on them. ;) Oh, and the 13th is DD's half birthday LOL So she thinks we're celebrating that, too.

My DH is a chef so he will be working late, cooking for all the lucky couples who get to go out to a nice restaurant on Valentine's Day. :(

We always miss out on Valentine's and New Year's Eve because of his job, but it really doesn't bother me that much. Since we are going to WDW in a couple of weeks, we decided not to buy gifts for Valentine's Day.

I agree with another post in that I would rather him be romantic and surprise me with flowers or a chocolates or something on just a regular day instead of feeling like he has to.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day with those that they love!

DH is supposedly cooking dinner, so it will be a surprise! We don't exchange gifts for Valentine's Day.

We don't really celebrate V-Day at all. Knowing our crazy schedule, we will either be at the gym or ballfield for basketball practice or softball practice.

Since we've had kids, it's not the romantic evening it used to be!

The four of us will have a little dinner and then I got stuff to make and decorate cookies. The kids love anything to do with cookies and that should keep them entertained for an hour or two.

DH has to work until 8pm on Thursday. But, Friday, DS's preschool is having "parents night out" from 7 - 10pm. We get to drop him off and he'll have fun with his friends. So, we can go out on Friday night for a little while and do something just the two of us:thumbsup:

I just got back from the retinologist and got the bad news that my eye disease is once again rearing its ugly head. So for Valentine's Day, my husband and I get to go to the doctor's office where I will receive a shot in my eye. Then we will come home and I will sit in the dark with a cold washcloth on my eye. Great fun! I told him maybe we could order a romantic pizza since I defintely will not be in any shape to cook.On the bright side, there is no gift he can buy me that is more precious than eye sight so I told him that I guess we will be buying my shot for each other for Valentine's Day since insurance won't pay for it.

I guess Mike and I have been together too long (almost 16 years) that we don't go all for Valentine's Day anymore - it's more of a family night for us. I bought my boys their valentines & chocolates, and I'll pick up a special V-day dessert. But, no going out for us! We are going out Saturday night with some family and friends so that works for me!

A funny valentines day story, that probably won't seem as funny when reading it...

Two years ago, when Conor was 5, he was in half-day kindergarten. So, on Valententines Day, he was home for the day at 11:30 am and we were just hanging out watching a movie. At one point, the doorbell rang....I got up to get it, and there was an older gentleman there holding flowers and 2 balloons. I thanked him and I was turning around, there stood Conor with the maddest look on his little face. I asked what was the matter and he said "who was that?". A little taken aback, I said "The delivery man for the florist". So, madder still, Conor said slowly...."but....who was he?" Completely baffled, I said "the man who delivers flowers for the florist". At this point Conor looks at me, up at the balloons, then back at me and says "And he LOVES you?" :funny::funny::funny: At that point I burst out laughing realizing that Con didn't get the concept of ordering flowers and he was very indignant that another man was bringing his Mom flowers! He was very relieved when I showed him the card from Daddy!!

Valentine's Day has never been a real big deal to me and DH. We have never "gone all out". This year he told me he would buy me anything, or take me anywhere, if he just didn't have to get a card. He HATES card shopping. I'm OK with that - so I told him I wanted to go to Australia instead! :D But told him I would settle for dinner and a movie - just the 2 of us (something other than "G" rated Disney please!). When you have been married for 21 years, and have 3 kids at home - just getting out by yourselves is a treat. Likely we won't celebrate until the weekend, since it seems everyplace is extra crowded on Valentines Day.

This is our 4th V-day together and (if all goes well) our last without rugrats. Dh and I took the day off because I have a dr.'s appt. that morning and then my first ultrasound. Providing we can see our "little raisin" on the scan, I'm sure you won't be able to nail our feet to the floor the rest of the day!
Since it's a morning appt, wr'll probably head to the theater to see Fool's Gold (his choice) after lunch. That way we beat the crowds.
I can't have chocolate and don't like cut flowers so I never get traditional V-day gifts.

We usually do something with the kids. I won't cook, so it's out we go.

I love these homemade chocolate covered cherries and only get them at Valentine's Day. Hanna Krause's. They are sooo good. Almost as good as a Dole Whip on a hot August day! If Fred brings those home, he will have a good night!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

It's a fun day. A whole day dedicated to chocolate and treats. YUMMMM

HA HA...Loved that...Kids are great.

It'll sorta be our first REAL valentines between my boyfriend and I. Last year we had just started dating. Alas I'm just not a big "valentine" girl. We'll probably exchange cards...I have a little DS game for my son and a tiny tin of candy for my boyfriend (it refers to his truck and it was funny), I'll probably get some flowers and candy for my parents. I don't mind flowers but the traditional roses are sooooo overpriced this time of year. I'd rather save the money to go towards our rings and vacation. I really don't like going out to dinner because it's just sooooo crowded. We'll fix a special meal of lobster and steak at home and watch SURVIVOR (Valentines is NOT a reason to miss Survivor or have to record it :D).

Well it's actually my birthday, so I'm spending the day in shock that I am now 37 :secret:

We just celebrate it as my birthday....I celebrated with my family last night and tonight it's just DH, DS and myself...so we'll probably go out to eat. We still have 2 gift cards from Christmas to spend! One to Olive Garden the other to Carrabba's Italian Grill.

Well, my hubby is away on a business trip and i have to work tonight so i won't see my oldest daughter except for this morning before school so i probably won't celebrate at all. I did sneak a card in my husbands suitcase before he left, hopefully he finds it today!

My hubby is working tonite, so we celebrated last weekend. We went on a romantic dinner to my fave restauraunt, he got me a huge bouquet of roses and 2 boxes of chocolate.

Today, my thoughtful daddy (yes, I'm 31 and still call him that sometimes) dropped off some chocolate for me! :cloud9:

I may have too much chocolate now though. Oh, did I just say too much? No way! LOL! :joy:

This reminded me of my calendar....the quote for the month is, "Forget love, I'd rather fall in chocolate!"

Valentine's Day wasn't a big deal this year. Hubby did get me flowers and some of my favorite Lindt Dark Chocolate.

My DD's birthday is the 12th and we're having her party on Saturday, so most of this week has been about her and getting ready for the influx of people coming over. Next week we're not working so maybe I can talk DH into going out to dinner, just the two of us!
