I just read a tip on a way for a child to ride a ride twice in a row with limited waiting. Basically, one person gets in line with the child and the second person waits for a certain number of people to get in line and then enters the line. When the first person and child exit the ride, the child is then handed to the second person waiting in line and rides again.

I just wanted to make sure this was acceptable to most people. I can't see that it would be a big deal since it would just be the child joining the single adult waiting in line. They would still only take 1 ride vehicle so it wouldn't really be pushing anyone back who was behind them in line.

I guess this only works on a few rides because of the way the queues are set up. For example, Dumbo and Mad Tea Party.

I suppose my question was if you were behind someone in a line who was handed their child, would it make you upset?

P.S. I am not trying to discuss ways of cheating or cutting in line if this is illegal. I am only curious if people really do this and if it is allowed. I have never heard of anything like this before. I don't want to make anyone mad! :mickey:

hi,
its called baby or kid swap. Its a system setup by Disney, so don't feel at-all guilty. Our last trip was to Disneyland, in the fall(probably similar to WDW's procedures). Every ride had its own procedure to handle kid swaps. There is almost always a CM at the line entrance, just tell them you are kid swapping and they will guide you through it. On one ride we got a yellow slip which allowed the second rider to use the FP line. On another, we were escorted through the exit tunnel and put right on the ride while my wife waited next to the CM running the ride, then she rode, bypassing the line alltogether.

Actually, what the OP is talking about - explained very well in the first paragraph - isn't baby / child swap. I feel that the way the OP described it is cheating the system and it would bother me even if that one child doesn't really make a difference in when I get on the ride. I would think that it's not allowed as it's basically just another form of line jumping. Baby swapping the Disney way doesn't upset me at all - in fact, I think that's a great system.

In MOST rides (on the assumption that it's a two seater ONLY). Fine...no big deal. In most of these rides...if there are three adults in line and one remains behind (perhaps letting several others go in front of them)...they waited just like anybody else (in fact they actually may have waited a little longer). They're not line jumping.

Besides...if for example on the "Dumbo" ride...who's going to jump in a car with another adult or send their kids on a Dumbo with a strange adult? So either THAT adult is going to ride by themselves or get passed their child as he/she gets off a previous ride with say...Dad...

Nobody's losing out. Everybody would still wait the SAME number of cars if that person had gotten on a dumbo alone.

I probably should have read this post before posting mine. For me, it will be my DW, DD, and I. I would not think of this as an issue. Now, this assumes a ride can only accommodate one parent and one child. If I were to ride with my DD after waiting in line, why should my DW not be permitted the same benefit since she waited in line also.

To me, this is the same as baby/child swap. That is used for bigger rides where the child cannot go. Therefore, one parent rides, then the other gets on at the exit. I don't see why children should be excluded from the same privilege. It does not increase the wait for anyone in line and one parent is not left out.
