I just got back to Boston from a long weekend in the parks with my Dad and my sister(16) - We've been going since 1996 at least once a year. We had seasonal passes for a few years, so we took a lot of short trips.
We got rooms at Coronado Springs (first time out of the value resorts, except for a visit with family at their room at the Boardwalk). My Dad said he couldn't get a room at the value resorts, even though he called the morning we were heading up! They only had this room for very, very cheap.
Anyway, it was a nice surprise!
I won't go through an entire trip report, but I got to go on Spaceship Earth and the Haunted Mansion for the first time in a long time.
I, like a lot of others, was very, very disappointed with the SSE refurb. I know they are capable of so much better!
HM looked amazing! It was so much more interesting in the places it needed to be without cheapening it.
After spending so much time in the parks, I now spend a lot of time just looking around and seeing what they're doing with the under/unused spaces they have available and the little nooks and crannies.
Odyssey and Wonders of Life in EPCOT?
The old Skyway stations in Magic Kingdom?

I did really love going into the One Man's Dream attraction and the (too small) EPCOT exhibits.

I'm just sort of wandering in my thoughts here, but I saw so much opportunity and I know everyone else here has an opinion on all of it. Just adding another voice. :mickey:

My friends and I actually really enjoyed SSE... I thought the end was very neat and fun. But some people miss the old ways and like it to stay closer to what it used to be. And I totally get that. But taking it for what it was, I really just enjoyed it as an individual experience.

I think that's great that you enjoyed it. I'm sorry I didn't because I went on thinking "maybe it's not as bad as everyone said."
I did like the new scenes about computers towards the end - I thought those were a logical addition and very well done. I'm also glad they just generally updated and that the post-show area was updated.

Thanks for your thoughts on your trip!

I haven't seen the updates to Spaceship:Earth yet but really enjoyed the Haunted Mansion changes!

I was also disappointed with the ending of SSE. The picture thing didn't work. The descent was just a bunch of black drapes. However, I am aware we were in the soft opening, so not everything was 100%. Going back in May so hopefully things will be better.
Thanks for sharing.:mickey:

honestly, we didn't even notice the drapes... we were so into the screen and the video and answering the questions...

I totally agree with you, Rachel. I loved SSE too. I rode 6 times the whole weekend!!! Each ending was different as I chose a different things than before.

Also, perhaps they weren't hooked up yet, but the "black drapes" actually contain LED "stars" which I thought looked really cool.

I really liked the new ending, and can see how they can keep it up to date easily by changing it up in the computer system...

...and the Haunted Mansion refurb is AWESOME!!!
