I was hoping some of you DVC experts could help me...

We're looking at buying a resale. We have a question about points...how does it work if we buy say 200 points at one resort and 75 at another? Can we combine them to book at one of the home resorts

For example:
200 at SSR
75 at OKW

We could use 275 pts to book at SSR? What are the restrictions for combining points?

Thanks!

To be honest, if SSR is the resort you plan on staying at most of the time, you should consider buying enough points for SSR. But to answer your question, you can have ownership at multiple resorts, and they would be considered both home resorts. What you have to becareful of is the "Use Years." And the main problem would be for example if you were to book SSR and needed more points than the 200, you would have to borrow the points needed from the SSR bank, or wait until you hit the 7-month window to add the additional days and then use the points from OKW if there still is availablity for the additional days.

Keep in mind that if you have more than one home resort, all vacation points being used to make a reservation during the Home Resort Priority Period must be associated with that home resort.

That is, you cannot combine points from multiple resorts to book one resort during the 11-mo Home Resort Priority Period. You may combine all the points you have at all your home resorts and book any DVC resort only at the 7-month window.

Some folks purchase small add-ons at other resorts and then, by banking and/or borrowing, book a vacation there at the 11-month window every 2 or 3 years.
