We are planning our Summer 2008 vacation and are considering the Contemporary Resort. We've stayed at the Beach Club Resort the past several years, but unfortunately the room rates are much higher than summers past. I'm aware of the construction adjacent to the Contemporary, and the fact that all the rooms have been remodeled, but are there any other construction projects that remain at the Contemporary which may negatively impact our stay there?

The other resort we are considering is the Wilderness Lodge.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

No comment on Construction projects.

If you're concerned about price, you may not get a better price at the Contemporary. Since the construction removed the north garden wing, the number of garden wing rooms has been reduced by 50%, so there may not be any Garden rooms left by the time that you reserve your trip. If there are, then book now. Those are the $315 per night rooms. That leaves the tower rooms at $430 per night, which is $60 more than a garden view room at the Beach Club in June, and only $5 less than a standard room at the Grand Floridian. If only Tower rooms are available at the Contemporary, then your best bet is the Wilderness Lodge or try a garden view room at the Polynesian at $399 per night.

The Wilderness Lodge is a great place to stay. I highly recommend it. It obviously has a different feel than the Beach Club, but it a relaxing place. It's only a short boat trip to the Contemporary and the monorail loop, plus the Trail's End buffet at Fort Wilderness is a nice place to eat.
