I saw that spaceship earth was closed for refurbishment on the Disney web site, but I heard that its open can any one confirm ?????

Nope, down until Feb... but they had a trial run kinda thing ... I wasn't there, so I don't know for who. They may still be doing test runs...

There are members on here that have been on it and can tell you much more...

It has been open for previews and testing intermittenly but officialy does not open until the date listed in Feb.

I just got back from my Disney trip and rode SSE both days that I visited Epcot (12/28 and 1/1). On 12/28, it opened around 9 but was open all day 1/1. I was so excited to be able to ride it both days.

Last week (Jan 6-11), I rode it a few times as they had a "soft opening." Official opening is mid-February. It is really cool!

When I got there about a month ago, all the cast members said it was closed still. Then when we walked to SE, it was open! When we were the NEXT people to get on, they stopped it because there was a "hydraulic fluid leak". We eventually got on it, but it's still a "soft opening", so they can close at any time. :thumbsup:

I rode the new Spaceship Earth three times last week: once on 1/8/2008 and twice on 1/11/2008. There is a sign out front that states the official opening as "February 2008."
Looks like they are doing a trial run. On the 8th, the ride stopped for about ten minutes while we were on it.

SSE has been in soft opening for maybe a month or so. This just means it is not officially open, but you may get lucky and be there at a time when they are letting the public on for trial runs. I was fortunate enought to catch a soft opening on 12/19/07 with only a 5 minute wait!:mickey:

Yes, it is open right now. Like others said it is not officially open until mid Feb. We rode three times on our trip (1/7-1/11). We really liked what they had done in there. They still hold on to a lot of the original stuff but just updated it a little. :mickey:
