At the last minute Saturday we decided to drive up for the night and check out the Xmas decorations. My wife said I was nuts for trying to get anything the same day ecspecially on New Years week end. We got a studio at the AKV right on the Savanna, 5th floor. It was spectacular. Got back late yesterday. What a treat.

I miss those days of just driving up to Disney on a whim. I can not wait for DBF to get his transfer and I don't have to split my time between Salisbury and port st lucie. it will also make purchasing packages easier.

I am vacationing in Jupiter, FL mid-Jan. with 3 of my sisters and we are thinking of driving up to WDW for a quick overnight visit and this gives me encouragement that we can do it at the last minute! If I am not being too nosy, did you have to pay the rack rate? Thanks for sharing!

We didn't pay. I used our DVC membership for the savanna studio. There was only two left on property. This one and one at Old Key West. There must have been a late cancellation and I had to have called just at the right time.
