Dec. 31, 2000 – Vertical Horizon headlined a New Year’s Eve show at WDW.
Dec. 31, 2000 - IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth had its last performance at Epcot.
Dec. 31, 2000 - Tapestry of Nations closed and would reopen with new narration.
Dec. 31, 2001 – Cyndi Lauper, headlined the New Year’s Eve entertainment at Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island in Fl.
Dec. 31, 2001 – David Swift, a writer-director-producer whose career included stints as an animator of Walt Disney Studios, and made his debut as a movie director in 1960 guiding a young Hayley Mills in Disney’s “Pollyana,” and also worked on such Disney classics as Snow White, Fantasia, Dumbo, Pinocchio, The Reluctant Dragon, Peter Pan, and 101 Dalmatians, died at the age of 82 of heart failure at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Ca.
Dec. 31, 2002 – The “Tower of Terror” attraction at Disney-MGM Studios, new random drop sequence officially debuted. (It is now known as Tower of Terror 4.)
Dec. 31, 2002 – The B-52’s, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and Chris Botti rocked Downtown Disney Pleasure Island at WDW.
Dec. 31, 2003 – AT&T’s sponsorship of Spaceship Earth in Epcot at WDW ends.
Dec. 31, 2003 – The U.S. Postal Service unveiled 4 new 37-cent postage stamps featuring Disney characters. The stamps, which celebrate friendship as portrayed by the Walt Disney Studio, will be issued sometime in mid-2004.
Dec. 31, 2003 – Blondie and the Sugar Hill Gang headlined WDW’S New Year’s Eve celebration at Pleasure Island.
