...oooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Bet you thought we were really going to go to the North Pole, didn't you? Sorry, don't want anybody peeking and ruining the surprise. Besides, Santa's too busy to entertain company right now.

So, welcome to Bedford Falls, where life is wonderful. It's snowing, George just gave Clarence his wings, and we're all joining in a rousing Christmas carol. Anybody who doesn't know where we are?

Now, go out and remember all the things that make Christmas wonderful and all the ways you are a vital part of many people's lives.

Thank you Ken!!!! One of my all time favourite movies! Isn't the scene when George and Mary share the phone receiver to talk to Sam Wainwright the MOST ROMANTIC scene ever?????!!! I'm not even going to admonish you for closing the old thread whilst I was posting to it!!!! (I was just yelling at Blythe for rubbing it in about Dan's hockey game). Anyone see Zuzu's petals?

And why did you start a new thread?

I'm lost already. WHAT are you talking about?

And why did you start a new thread? Bedford Falls is the location for Frank Capra's holiday classic "It's A Wonderful Life" starring James Stewart as George Bailey and Donna Reed as Mary Hatch. It is a FABULOUS movie (that did not enjoy any kind of popularity in its time) and we watch it each and every Christmas Eve. The lesson is that we all contribute so much to the world and our worth is found in our friends and family.

Does it sound familiar?

They're right here in my pocket.

1. I'm lost already. WHAT are you talking about?

2. And why did you start a new thread?

1. You mean you have never seen the movie "It's a Wonderful Life?" If not, you've got to see it. Classic Jimmy Stewart and classic Christmas movie. My other two old-time favorites are "Miracle on 34th Street" and "White Christmas." I've got some contemporary favorites too.

2. Because it was time. JQ threads fill so quickly with hot air that they'll float away if we don't change them out on a regular basis.

Since I was at work yesterday so we didn't watch the Macy's Parade, did we have our own balloon? Was Pogo in charge of it?

Yeah! I LOVE this movie also! We've seen it twice at our local dinner theater! (Ken - right now it's playing White Christmas - do you and your wife wanna come for a Sunday brunch matinee?)

Carol - You mean you missed the humongous Question Mark balloon floating past Macy's? I do believe I saw Pogo being dragged behind it.

Ummm, about that. We did have our own baloon, but Pogo was the only one who showed up to hold the ropes and this big gust came along just before the parade start and, well...

If anybody sees a giant "JQ" floating overhead with a guy dangling off a rope, please get your BB gun out and help bring Pogo back to ground will you? I think his family misses him.

That must of been the "JQ" entry in the parade!

:stock: Good morning, all!! Ken, you've done it again -- PERFECT stop-over this trip!! I love this movie... we were just talking about it last night!! You must've heard us... it's among our absolute favorites. We were watching "NL's Christmas Vacation" after the kiddos went to bed -- anyone else see it?? Another favorite, even if the message isn't as profound...

(I was just yelling at Blythe for rubbing it in about Dan's hockey game).
:whew: Phew! Glad I missed the scolding... :D ... not that I even rubbed it in well, as he was at a Buffalo/Montreal game, not a Leaf's game. Oooops... but hey, they won - so at least I had a happy DH when he got home!

So Ken, do you really think this thread will last until Christmas???
Not a chance.... although maybe with all the shoppers that live on here, we'll be a little too busy to post as much... :shop: Although I have to say, after yesterday (we did go back out last night, and I got some GREAT deals at Toys 'R Us!!) I'm well on my way to being done!!

I hope you all are having a nice beginning to your Saturday.... I just finished up some chocolate chip pancakes, courtesy of my MIL... would anybody like some?? We've got plenty to share... and I've got some kids I could share, too... anybody want to borrow a few???

Catch you all later... I'm off to enjoy Bedford Falls... :ornament:

Great movie but I am not at all sure I would like to live then! we have had a fun day - folding and packing Christmas cards and notelets for the sale tomorrow. We have done over 1500 Christmas cards but are not halfway yet. I suspect we have enough for tomorrow though. Who would have thought old Disney bags would have been so useful for the packs of 20 and 50? :D

Oh, it's cold here but no snow yet in our village but the wind is biting.

Yup - it's sure chilly here!! And I don't think it's going to be any better when we head back to Syracuse tomorrow... but at least we didn't get then snow and freezing slush we were supposed to get!! I'm sure that's close behind...

What's everyone doing today? We're just hanging out and relaxing... I'm starting to feel like my cold's coming back, so I actually took a nap... not common for me, to say the least!! Now we're getting ready to celebrate my nephew's 3rd birthday... doing the "Cars" thing, and Dan's got a train all set up for him to play with. :D

Anbody out there??

Just got back from another round of shopping! I have spent so much money this past week! But the good news is, the shopping is well on its way! Today I just got DD13 a new winter coat - she's been wearing a sweatshirt jacket - and its been in the mid 30s in the morning. Got a nice down coat - real cute, on a really good deal. Not for Christmas - but an absolute necessity!

Now we are kicking back for a while. Tonight is Billy Joel - and I can't wait!
Has everyone else been shopping all weekend?? Maybe thats why its been soooo quiet here. Anyone have snow??

Hey, Ken, did you lose some people off the RV after that sharp right you took back there? Or did they jump off the bridge? We're missing Pogo, Alex, Christine, Ellen, Deb and Natalie. I figured you left Natalie at the Shoe store in lovely downtown Bedford and Christine jumped off to join her, but what happened to everyone else?

I had read that about Bert and Ernie.

Ah ha - they were the ones lining up outside Northern Rock bank and creating a panic! It's strange how peoples over-reaction turn a poor, but recoverable, situation into a terrible one isn't it? All the UK banks are being hit in their share value because of this panic, far more than actually merited by the situation. :(

Oh, and yes, it's all the USAs fault apparently - that sub prime lending doohickey ;)

Good morning everyone.
Another beautiful day on tap for us today.
What y'all planning on doing besides shopping? :D
Me personally I've got work on tap for today that someone else planned for meh. Lolol
And making plans for the following week whilst I'm at Fort Wilderness and the first night we're going to be having dinner at the restaurante at Wilderness Lodge. I can't seem to recall the name but it's the one where if you ask for ketchup, or pepsi, you know what I'm talking about? the rest of the visit don't know where we're eating at but the food at least will be good eh? Still have a bit of Christmas shopping left so at least we've still have time to get that part down anyway.
So who would like Mickey character shaped cookies instead of the traditional Christmas type? :D
Have a magical day folks

I am SO jealous you have an opportunity to watch those films in a theatre, the way they were meant to be seen. I have only ever seen them on VHS (and now DVD) but I have always believed classic films are much better on the big screen.

I've been doing a LOT of shopping online, including at eBay (all stuff for me ... found lots of china there) now that my account finally got straightened out.

DS needs a new coat as well. He was wearing the windbreaker we bought at AK until I put my foot down when the temps hit the 40s. He doesn't like his old Land's End jacket because he says it makes him look like a marshmallow. :( But, he won't look for any other jackets either. :shakehead:

Please, Cindy, do not say the "s-word" around me. :sob:

You blew our cover, Ken!

Another beautiful day on tap for us today.
What y'all planning on doing besides shopping?
We're finally going to the movies (Enchanted) and then instead of shopping, I have to go to Target to do some returning! And yes, maybe we'll shop a little while we're there. Oh, and I really need to do :laundry:

Nope, you can't.:D

I've cleaned the apartment already this morning. I wanted to scrapbook, but I'm not getting inspired yet. It's too early to pack..I'm doing that on Friday.

I put my Christmas tree/Hanukkah bush(as Gilles calls it) up on Wednesday. It's just a small 2' fibre optic tree with a few decorations on it. I could pull out my other decorations out today and put them up, before I find new ones at WDW.:D

Do you think our missing people will show up soon? I'm starting to miss everyone.:sob:

I kind of tricked DD into going. :secret: When she found one she was willing to wear - SOLD! Actually its very nice - just really heavy for everyday wear here. But atleast she won't get cold!

SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! Did I mention I like snow? Since we are several thousand miles apart, how bout it just snows in the west??

Me too!

The concert last night was good. Billy Joel still knows how to entertain a crowd. Its funny how he has aged right along with the rest of us!! He joked that he was just the warm up act - that Billy would be out soon - and he was Billy's dad. :funny:

Today is "clean up the house" day. Course, it would actually take more like a week to get this place clean. :shake: Anyone want to help? I'll have cookies and coffee ready!

Just zooping in to say hi! Blythe, you working tonight?

We decided to forego the movies tonight as I thought there would be oodles of traffic but there wasn't. Go figure.

Anyone else watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? I think they've watched us do our demolitions. But their families always seem to be so much happier than ours to see the results. Why is that?

Because they didn't have Di and me, along with Ken and Drummerboy's Discount Demo's doing them? Plus they didn't have Stitch helping out!!!

2. Would I pretend to miss you?

3. Haven't you seen A Christmas Story? The father wins a leg lamp that looks like a woman's leg with a black fishnet stocking on it. Randy is the younger brother that the mother dresses up to go outside and she bundles him up so much he can't move his arms and legs. Another of my favourites! We have "The Major Award" and the crate it came in hanging on our Christmas Tree -- it puts us all in stitches!! Fragile (pronounced Fra-geel-ay). It must be Italian! :funny:

Well, they're showing up at DD1's theater presentation. Are you sure you want all of your Christmas pasts to show up? Could be quite an eye-opener, eh?:thedolls:Are you ready to open yet?

Anyone else watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? I think they've watched us do our demolitions. But their families always seem to be so much happier than ours to see the results. Why is that?Sorry Ellen -- but I just can't stand it. I can't stand the noise of the crew, or of the people egging them on outstide..... I think I would risk DDHR (Drummerboy's Discount Home Renovations).

OH, that would be great!!! We could give Pogo the leg lamp and dress Alex up in Randy's snowsuit, where he can't walk!!!

OK....... you're going to have to explain this one to me. I have no idea what this means.

Haven't you seen A Christmas Story? The father wins a leg lamp that looks like a woman's leg with a black fishnet stocking on it. Randy is the younger brother that the mother dresses up to go outside and she bundles him up so much he can't move his arms and legs. I think that explains those two remarks, but you need to watch it!!!Great explanation Carol! But you meant.... "The Old Man won a Major Award" ... :funny: . It was filmed up in our parts (well, St. Catharines anyway). What about Ralphie in his bunny pyjamas "You look like a Pink Nightmare!" Just hilarious.

Hi - Ho - HI - Ho, its off to work I go....
Does anyone wish to go with me or meet me at the Bedford Falls Bar at the end of the day? Was it called Murphey's?What about a Soda at Mr. Gower's store?

So, does anybody want my Christmas list?I think I got you already.... Let's see... "Coal for Alex". Yep ... Gotcha! :D

Nope, it was "Martini's".

So, does anybody want my Christmas list?
Sure! It couldn't be harder than Olivia's list! That child's letter to Santa was pathetic! She asked for a Nintendo DS and an i-Phone! She even wrote: "I hope you can bring them. I've got my bottom lip out!" Pathetic! :shake:

Love it! There are SO many great moments from that movie! One of my favorites is "Oh Fuuuuuuuuudge!" And the resulting "soap blindness" dream! :funny:

Just got back from another round of shopping!
We went Saturday it was fun! Got some really good deals too,

I'm not normally around on the weekends much Carol...sorry!

Who has Christmas cookies?
I have snickerdoodles does that count?

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good Monday!! I just got done with some "cyber shopping"... all those deals out there really weren't that great, but I did find the interactive globe I wanted to get the girls for only $48... normally about $129!! So, frustrated as I get w/ online shopping/comparing/losing the website you were on last that had a good deal/finding out at the last moment your shipping isn't free/figuring out which items qualify for what specials... :thedolls: ... I can't complain about the order I placed, really... at least, no much...

The concert last night was good. Billy Joel still knows how to entertain a crowd. Its funny how he has aged right along with the rest of us!! He joked that he was just the warm up act - that Billy would be out soon - and he was Billy's dad.

I'm glad to hear the concert was so good - we were thinking of you, and wishing we were there!!

Just zooping in to say hi! Blythe, you working tonight?

Nope... I was home, decorating the house. :tree: We got home from Buffalo around 1:30, and by dinnertime, I had all the fall decorations tucked away (okay, they're really laying on the floor in the bsmt., but I'll get to them later...) and our Christmas stuff out. Not all of it, mind you - this house is too small - but most everything, and with a little bit more to do today, our house will be ready for Santa!! :deer:

Does anyone wish to go with me or meet me at the Bedford Falls Bar at the end of the day? Was it called Murphey's?
I'd love to, but I'm heading off to work tonight... have one for me, okay?

Good morning all! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Went up to Lake Placid this weekend.

So, does anybody want my Christmas list?
What'd you do up there? I haven't been in years... must've been pretty!

Only if I can see what you're getting me... :D

Well, I've got to run -- time to go pick up our big boy from the kennel and get a few groceries. We brought back lots of leftovers from Grandma's, but they're getting low... guess that means I've got to cook again! Sigh... life was easier at Dan's mom's house...

They had their first rehearsal at the theater last night. Sets are still under construction (so far, DD's husband and I have been the main construction crew. Wonder if Rogers and Hammerstein had to build their own sets).
Opening night will be Dec. 14. Want to order some tickets?

Can I add "The Bells of St Mary's" to the list of great Christmas movies?

Has anyone finished their shopping yet? I have yet to start! (bad mommy!) I do know that there are 2 Disney packages on their way to the house that I am not allowed to open!

Don't you realize that you have to suffer for your art? At least that is what I told my son this last weekend as I glued on his false eyebrows, beard, and mustache as he went out to play the big guy from the North Pole on our town square! Of course he didn't really complain until it came time to pull the hair off and realized that maybe he should have shaved first!!

By the way, what show are you doing? I have been away so long I didn't bother to go back and catch up.

By the way, did anyone miss me? Please say yes cause I really do need a morale boost! I got the official word that I am having my sixth back surgery on December 17 the other day and am not doing real well with the concept! None of the other five surgeries was fun but the doctor is telling me this will be the worst one possible. They actually have to go in from the back then flip me over and go in from the front to do everything! While they are in there they will be putting in a bone graft, cleaning out scar tissue, inserting pins, screws, and plastic ropes. The expected recovery time is not the normal 6 weeks but instead is 6 MONTHS!!

OK, I will quit my pity party and try to be more positive but if anyone wants to send pixie dust my way I will be happy to have it.

I am not real sure what I will by lying on! Since they are going in from both the back and then the front all in the same procedure I am not sure which way I will be able to lay. I am also not sure that I will be eating much by then. One of the potential risks of this surgery is that they have to push your intestines out of the way when they go in from the front. So that means they could nick something or at the very least they will agitate your intestines. According to the doc. that normally means that it is a couple of weeks until you have much of an appetite.

They are telling me that I will be in the hospital for 5 or 6 days after the surgery so I will be home just in time to make everyone's Christmas just ducky at my house. I know that many of our family and friends have already been talking to my wife about how they can relieve her from time to time so she can enjoy the holidays.

No it's just a normal work suit. (I have way more work attire then casual stuff) Skirt with nice kick pleat kind of deal at the back and short fitted jacket with narrow lapels. My holiday stuff is often seperates so I can mix & match them in case the same gang are all at the same thing. Unless your talking more formal cocktail dress stuff. (have two LBD & a gold one & grey & black & purple) (I do however have two pairs of gold shoes so perhaps this means I need silver ones?)

Carol.
I hope you have a Happy Birthday trip!

Thank you, Deb!!!

Who else can barely believe that December is right around the corner?

I know it came so quickly. I can't believe next week on Tuesday I'll be 50. Where has all the time gone?

It's probably due to the dry air inside your apartment.

Ditto! :ditto: Great minds think alike... :D

Do I need to mention that LSU lost to Arkansas yesterday ???

I saw that and knew you'd be sick over it.

Nope, it was "Martini's".

Just watch him to make sure he doesn't put poison in it then slap your ear!

Christine, were you testing me? :nono: You forgot your question!

Everybody living through the first after-holiday work day?

Actually, that's tomorrow as I had today off.

Yes, we missed you! And, I'm sending loads of :pixie: to you!

Where's Rhonda???

Has anyone seen Rhonda?

It's nice to be missed (even if it took a week ;)). We were gone to my sister's house in Colorado for Thanksgiving. We left on Tuesday and got home yesterday afternoon. It snowed about 8 inches over night Thursday night at her house. It was very pretty. We also visited my other sister that lives in Colorado on the way home, but we just spent a couple of hours with her.

Ben's getting a lot of nosebleeds. Should I be concerned?

It's probably due to the dry air inside your apartment.

My doctor has me put just a little Vaseline on the inside of my nose before I go to bed at night when it's really dry. It really helps.

How about if I send you a rain/snow mix? We're suppose to get it off and on all week. Tonight on the way home we had big fluffy flakes. I'd have someone help me blow it your way, but I'm afraid the hot air from Pogo would melt it. Ooops did I say that?

Actually, we are right on the edge tonight too - but no real hope of snow. Although they are talking about the possibility on Friday. Bet it doesn't happen. Freezing rain is another possibility - I'd take snow anyday.

Anyone else watching The Santa Clause with Tim Allen? (oh, I forgot - its probably already over in your time zone....)

Nope... just rain all last night and today. :( It had snowed while we were in Buffalo, though... figures... we took all our snow stuff there, and it never came... got home, and everything was white!! Of course, it's not white anymore... hopefully this wknd!! (After we get our tree, of course... ;))

So are you busy tonight Blythe?
Yup... but it's a bit better now!!

Glad to hear your trip was so nice -- and it must've been beautiful!! Any pics for us???

Sigh...nope... wish I was!! I love that movie... and the second one, too. Not as crazy about the third, but of course we had to buy it, seeing as they all go together, according to my girls!! And they loved the third... they really get a kick out of Jack Frost. Who'd have thought Martin Short would be a favorite of theirs??? (Any of you with girls -- if you have Barbie's Princess & the Pauper, did you know he's the voice of Preminger??? He's got an amazing singing voice, and I never knew!!)

Anyway -- how are you all tonight?? Most of you are probably in bed... and we're still missing a few... anybody seen Lynne around the boards?? Must be that new man in her life... :secret:

Mom is going to have all of her teeth removed at the hospital tomorrow. They have certainly contributed to her very poor health this year (and probably for years gone by too!). She is nervous, a bit embarrassed, but brave. So please think of her.

Also, for my BinL Richard who is having his Gall Bladder removed on Thursday. Richard had a heart transplant 6 years ago and is a success story in the flesh -- He has already dealt with so much, so some :pixie: and prayers for him too -- to make this as simple and pain free as possible!

Blythe was having the coffee with caffine type & my DS loves the de-caf version. But it still tastes coffe like is that ok? Sorry about the heat thing that sounds nasty. So with your hours in mind I have some of the following for you...

Do you have small owner operated retail stores in your town? (think not variety but other stuff).

Also approach a Merry Maid or similiar to see if you can get hired on for the season. (while cleaning isn't fun the hours you want might make this work real well)
Have you approached any of the telephone order co's? Many of them can be signed up for very specific hours and you can work from your home for that. Not sure how one signs up though. Also try your local large grocery store chain as they may need extra help as well.

Is this drink a Starbucks or a Timmies? And can you taste the peppermint? or just the coffee? As long as it's hot and I can taste the peppermint I just might run out at lunch and get myself one!

Already thought of the whole cleaning thing (brand new hotel in our area is opening) and DH does not want me to do ANY type of cleaning job! He's worried about diseases and such and the exposure to chemicals. (my background with using chemicals is not the greatest...Dh won't let me near the bathroom tub with anything more than a Clorox wipe).

I'm actually backing off the second job idea for right now... we have cut back on eating out (as in not doing it) and also our 'extra' spending.. and WOW! The difference it's made in just this one month... Dh is also getting a few longer 'road runs' (nothing overnight) so he's making a bit more. Jenn sent me a pm of a work from home thing I'm gonna look at. And I just might start my writing again.. see if I can sell some articles or greeting card ideas...

I didn't make it out to STarbucks at lunch.. I might try to stop tomorrow on my way in.. I think my budget can afford a few dollars on a drink.

Thanks for all your wonderful ideas and for trying your hardest to help me. I really wasn't WANTING to work weekends.. it's hard enough to keep my house clean as it is... I dreaded what it would end up looking like if I lost my weekends also. Hopefully dh's runs will stay up and we plan to continue the no eating out/extra spending thing for another couple months. You mentioned the phone thing.. I do know someone that works at a Kohl's catalog factory order taking place (not sure what the 'technical name' would be)... never thought of that.. but I could probably get her to help me get on there... I mean, 40 hours a week I answer the phone and take orders for food supplies... so I'm sure I could handle answering the phone and taking merchandise orders! (unless they have you take a personality test that is!) Thanks for that idea! I might just look into it! Never could hurt to have something ready on the back burner!

Nope I didn't find it. And Di if it makes you feel better I brown bag/bring my own coffee from home for at least the first one each day! It creates my disney money every year by being fairly dedicated to that process. I figure it at aprox 50 per week and transfer it to my vacation savings account for the bulk of what we need to fund our vacation. I've been doing this now for at least the last 5 years. It's also a great way to portion control as well!

Now if I could just figure out a way to brown bag physical activity. Now where on earth is everyone else? Christine are you still shopping for stuff for people you aren't sure of? Are there JQ'rs on your list?

Good evening to those of you who are still here and good morning to the rest of you who have gone home/gone to sleep or are otherwise occupied and who won't be back until tomorrow morning.

So did everyone have a good day today?

Wow, you can really tell it is getting near the end of the year and we are all getting our medical things taken care of before having to meet a new deductible at the first of the year!! I spent roughly the last 15 years working in Human Resources and spent a lot of time each year dealing with health care plans and it never failed that we almost always had about 40% of all costs for the entire year in the last two months of the year. And yes, when quizzing employees to find out why the deductible issue came up VERY often!! And I have to say that I was as bad at this as anyone!

Anyway, here is some :pixie: going out to all of us who are having health care things done.

So how is the weather in other parts of the country? After spending the summer with record heat and record dryness we stayed warm up until about two weeks ago when we all of a sudden went into the deep freeze! We basically had one or two days of typical fall weather between our summer and winter weather. Unfortunately we still are not getting much precipitation.

I haven't a clue yet. They don't have the run of the house during the day, so we are OK there. But we usually have about a 9 foot tree - and I'd really hate to find it (or all the ornaments) tipped on the floor!!

So - Washington out your way, or mine???
Washington state - just over the border. And yes, it was quite a bit warmer in that building!

Jym, Where are you?

Is he still at Best Buy?
Yep, he's lined up for the after-Christmas sales! :D By the way Jym, did you get what you were after??

I'm gonna ask for some :pixie: and prayers from all of you this week.
Mom is going to have all of her teeth removed at the hospital tomorrow.
Also, for my BinL Richard who is having his Gall Bladder removed on Thursday.
:pixie::pixie: Double dose of pixie dust on its way for successful procedures, and quick recovery!

I'm FREEZING cold right now and have on a turtle neck, a Christmas sweater AND my winter coat! What's wrong with that you may ask? I"M IN MY CUBICLE IN MY OFFICE!
So, did someone mention some type of hot peppermint de-caf drink earlier?
That was me yesterday! Our office was freezing. I had to have an extra hot peppermint mocha - and that did the trick. If you don't like mochas, Starbucks makes good hot chocolate - and you can have them put peppermint in it ! Yum! Of course its totally low cal and sugar free this time of year! ;)

Back to Washington tomorrow. Atleast the building is warm! Did anyone (besides Blythe) get any good deals on Cyber Monday? Not me. I didn't think the deals were all that great myself. Oh well, I think I have packages coming in pretty much for the next 2 weeks solid!

Blythe, I was looking at the moon last night and wondering if it was a full moon. Hope that tonight gets better and that all the mommies, all the babies and all their nurses are okay.

I'm not sure when the next full moon is... but I know I don't want to be here!! I think it's all the rain and weather changes... and all that snow we got last February.... :secret: Tonight's better so far, but I better not say it too loud...

Exciting day too. The State Bar Quarterly with my short story in it came out this week. Haven't received mine yet, but another attorney in the county told me he saw it but didn't have a chance to read it yet.

CONGRATULATIONS on the story!!! That's awesome. I hope we get to read it somehow...

How is everyone tonight?

Carol - are you packed yet?

Pogo - just wanted to say :hi: neighbor!!

Alex - where are you?? Hopefully not stuck in an airport...

Lynne - are you out there??

Christine - are you done shopping yet?? ;)

I can't even dare try to say hi to everyone.... just wanted to say hello to a few I haven't said hi to recently... :)

Have a good night, all!!

Hate to be a bearer of bad news, but we just finished a full moon. It was looking full on Friday or Saturday.

I'm pretty good. Not packed yet. I'm waiting until Friday. I have the day off, so I can take all day to decide what I'm taking. I'm also checking out weather.com daily to see what the weather is going to be alike.

Gotta a story...When we went to WDW last year, I bought Mickey Hawaiian shirts for all of us. Gilles asked me if we could wear them again this trip, because we got so many comments about them and he liked it. How could I say no?

So, I played bunko tonight and my streak is still firmly intact...I LOST! :pout:

So why do I keep playing month after month? Because the food is so good!

Well, I just got home and have my Starbuck's in hand so I can watch the two hour Dancing with the Stars Finale that John taped for me. I sure hope I'm not disappointed! :fingers:

You're right!! It's a bit better tonight... snow's not as damaging as a good rainstorm. (Hey, T&G, did you hear that? It's snowing out... :D)

I'd love some coffee, but in the PM, please... tomorrow evening is Julia's Christmas concert at school, so could you make it a double, or an espresso please?? Gotta be livelier than normal after I get up... ;)

Anybody still around?? Where are my West Coast girls??

SNOW? Did somebody say SNOW? I LOVE snow! (or did you already know that?). :D Actually its been snowing here too....well not HERE, but in the mountains, and down the gorge. Ski season is well under way here (I don't ski since breaking my knee to bits years ago), but the mountain sure looks purdy! They are predicting freezing fog in the morning - as I head back over the bridge to Washington. They say we have a chance of snow on Saturday night....I won't hold my breath.

Hey!! Yeah for the West Coast... I can always count on one of you to pop in! I hope you get some snow soon... trust me, I'd send you some if I could!!

Tonight is definitely a better night... must be the whole moon/barometric pressure thing has stabilized, at least for a bit.
I'll have a Mocha ready for you first thing... thanks for saving me some!! I'll be up around 3:30... and no, I don't have to work tonight, thank goodness. After Julia's concert, I'll just come home and make myself a hot toddy and on a Christmas movie, I think... I don't come back here 'til Thursday, and then I'm off until Tuesday. Yeah!

Have a safe trip back to Washington... how often do you have to go up there? Is it far?

Happy Wednesday everybody. Boy, where has the time gone?

Anyone want to volunteer to take my place?
OK, I will. Actually (letting the cat out of the bag), I am having double spinal fusion on December 10. Sounds like a very similar surgery, but without the ropes.

So does anybody want to take our place? :D

Pogo still owes me a tennis match. Alex turned out to be a gem in person.

Not too loud, Mikki. Do you want to ruin my reputation? :D

Well.... I was giving tennis lessons to the Williams Sisters..... seems like they are in a little slump and called for my help. And Alex was teaching them the proper way to serve..... right Alex ? :D
Somebody has to do it....:D

Happy Wednesday everyone! Still cold here... but gonna warm up to the mid 50s today.. then drop again with a chance of a snow storm this weekend. Yuck! Guess I better stop by the pet store and get some pet safe sidewalk salt for my driveway!

So who can give me juggling lessons?

I called Ringling Bros. Circus and they said they could rent you a clown to give you lessons for just $350 per hour... I then called DDJT (Drummerboy's Discount Juggling Teachers) and they said they would give you lessons for just $15 per hour.. but they did mention something about signing a waiver to waive them from all legal issues that might result from their lessons...

Di, did you ever warm up??? :freeze:

Nope...stayed cold in here all day yesterday. Doesn't feel as bad today.. but that could be cause it's tons colder outside this AM.. plus I stopped and got a Venti Carmal Apple Cider from Starbucks on my way in. That's sitting all nice and warm in my belly!

Can someone make it Saturday, PLEEEEEEEEEAAAASSSSSSEEEE?:D

Hmmm.. I pulled off the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday pages from my day to day calender, and put x's thru those same days on my desk calender so it's Saturday...

HEY! If it's Saturday why am I still at work? :D

Do I have anything fun planned for this weekend? Let's see.. gotta go to the Vet's office to renew my furbaby's doggy licenses.. does that sound like fun? With the snow storm comming in I'm planning on a day at home.. snuggling on the couch watching christmas movies and drinking chai tea!

OK, I will. Actually (letting the cat out of the bag), I am having double spinal fusion on December 10. Sounds like a very similar surgery, but without the ropes.

Tylenol makes a sleep aid that has no medicine in it.. called "Simply Sleep".. maybe you can try that. I know I get occassional bouts of insomnia, but if they last more than a week or two you should probably see a doctor. HOpefully it is just the excitement of the trip!

To be fair it's a family run thing (and the wife always comes to present it & the store is owned by the SIL etc). But still! And why would Christine buy one if that's it? Couldn't Olivia make one? I've heard of bubble tea but not bubble necklaces.

Di gifts are fairly standard however..I normally get at least a fruit basket or two, plants, candy, wine, fish/shrimp etc from clients. I've even had clients send me flowers. Some of the stuff can be very sweet. Where I used to work I had a client who had a rock quarry. I asked for a small rock for a paperweight when I was leaving and the even had it laminated & put a plaque on it for me with their name & "best banker". So the cool outways the weird.

Hmmm... I used to work for a city government and the first couple years we got tons of stuff for Christmas.. candy, fruit baskets, etc.. then they passed some sort of law or something that basically said no gifts to officials cause it could be seen as bribery. Where I work now our customer base does not give us anything... some of our vendors might bring in a tray of cookies or candy.. that's about it. We usually get a box of 6 steaks from the company though as our 'gift'.. so that's always nice!

Are you crazy??? Give Maria my credit card? She would be shopping solely for her! :D

Ever see "Annie Get Your Gun?" That's from the "Col. buffalo Bill" song. I've done the character who sings it twice, so it's pretty well stuck in my head.

Anybody got some Christmas cookies to spare? How 'bout a frosty fruit bar? Anybody ever had those? Kind of like a frosted-fruit-cake-cookie thingy.

OK, I will. Actually (letting the cat out of the bag), I am having double spinal fusion on December 10. Sounds like a very similar surgery, but without the ropes.

Wow! That's quite a bit of news in a short post!! We'll be thinking of you and sending :pixie: and prayers your way -- I sure hope everything goes fine and you're back on your feet in no time. Looks like Maria will have her work cut out for her... :D

Is everyone ready for a wonderful Wednesday?
Now that I'm up, yes!!

That sounds lovely!! (The home watching movies part, not the trip to the vet part...)

We've got some fun stuff going on here at the girls' schools... there's an arts & crafts fair at the middle school with over 80 vendors and babysitting for the kids while you shop... plus, there's an area just for them to shop at, as well! So, I think that'll be fun to go to with the girls. I think afterwards we'll put up our outside lights, etc., and for the evening, there is a special "Kids Night Out" over at the high school with movies, games, pizza, etc., from 6-10pm... and parents get to go out and shop and have dinner and do whatever, all by themselves!! Whoo hoo!! :clappy: On Sunday, we'll go get our tree after church and have a fun day just decorating it and watching Christmas movies, making cookies, etc... it's my first full weekend off that we aren't going anywhere in ages, so I can't wait!!

Well it's a gift certificate..to a store that sells a style of clothing one normally wouldn't gift one's professional associates with. (and no it isn't shoes).

Wow!! That's quite the gift... bet your DH doesn't mind, though...

Would anyone like a blueberry muffin? Hot from the oven!!
Yes!! Do you have any left??

And yes, I'm baking the muffins! Are you really asking that before you decide if you want one?

:funny: I saw a sign in a catalog last night that made me think of you... it said "Many people have eaten my food and gone on to live normal, productive lives" :D

Are you crazy??? Give Maria my credit card? She would be shopping solely for her!
Now Alex, don't tell me I have to remind you that there are ways that those items could still be for you... ;)

Well, I hope everybody's been having a good Wednesday... I'm off to get a few things done around here before dinner and the concert... I woke up early with extra energy, so I may as well put it to good use and get a few things put away. Anybody know anyone who'd like to come put laundry away???

ooops, sorry! They'll be a PM coming your way in a minute. Do you come through often?I was through there again today, but I didn't get your PM until I got home. :(

This (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2417981000093439642pGvkWj) is the best I can do for now!! I'll get some new ones next week. He's actually has worn that shirt during the summer up here, and I haven't. I'll probably be swimming in mine since it was before I lost the weight.

Thanks for posting the pic. You have lost some weight, haven't you ?

To attract the possum, duh.

Oh, fat jokes now?
I don't know any. :(

OK, I will. Actually (letting the cat out of the bag), I am having double spinal fusion on December 10. Sounds like a very similar surgery, but without the ropes. Hhhmmm.... did Maria have anything to do with your bad back ?

Would it help you day at all if I told you I got my annual weirdest ever gift for a banker thing again? I hope Maria will tell us your ok... Not again this year !

Is the clown from DDJT named Pogo or Alex?
Here we go again...... OK.... pick on me and leave Alex alone so he can cope and heal !

My brother (whose birthday is on the 10th) fell out of his loft earlier this year Glad to hear he is OK. He's not the only one in your family that has fell out of the loft. ;)

Ever see "Annie Get Your Gun?" That's from the "Col. buffalo Bill" song. I've done the character who sings it twice, so it's pretty well stuck in my head.

If you don't have butter or even margarine that isn't sprayed on what did you use to make the muffins?

Nat, maybe she's using a box mix? Most of those it's just add water, or maybe add an egg and some milk or oil. No butter needed.

Bingo! That's cute that Nat would think I bake from scratch though!

Unless you wanna pay a personal shopper to take care of it for you! Christine - were you still looking for a job?
I'd LOVE to! Especially if it meant I could go to New York! Can you imagine what kind of trouble I'd get into there???:cloud9:

Who's got the show that gets the most applause? (I'm counting on Jasper to pick up on this one.)
Five hundred indians and fifty squaws!

:funny: I saw a sign in a catalog last night that made me think of you... it said "Many people have eaten my food and gone on to live normal, productive lives" :D

Are you serious? Pixie dust for a successful surgery - and a quick recovery!! Does this mean that we have to be nice to you now? :D

Yes Nat, you may have my coffee ration, not just today, but everyday!
Do you want to share??

So if my surgery is scheduled for December 10, does that exempt me from Christmas shopping?
No - better get busy! :D If you can type that post, you can shop on line!! :D

Are you crazy??? Give Maria my credit card? She would be shopping solely for her! :D
Yah, and wouldn't that save you the effort of having to shop for something for her, buy it, and wrap it - only to have it returned or exchanged for what she REALLY wanted??

We've got some fun stuff going on here at the girls' schools... there's an arts & crafts fair at the middle school with over 80 vendors and babysitting for the kids while you shop... plus, there's an area just for them to shop at, as well!

Every year the elementary school has a "Santa's Breakfast" put on by the PTA. When my oldest DD was in first grade they had "Santas Secret Shop". You could put money in an envelope and indicate who they were shopping for, and how much they could spend on each. They would have "Santa's Helpers" that would help them shop for special gifts from various selections. They would wrap and tag them too. Its was so much fun for everyone!!

Question for those of you that put of a Christmas tree:
Do you do fake or fresh??

Always did fresh back home in Canada..but since I have been in Florida I have to admit that we have had a fake one. Used to love going into the woods to pick a tree..and loved that every year it would fall over at least once!
I have to admit that Christmas is weird for me here..no snow..no chill in the air...Christmas lights are truly gorgeous during a nice snowfall!

My elementary school had that Santa Shop thing. I remember going once, and I know my brother also went once or twice. It's a cute idea. We also had a craft bazaar every year at my elementary school where independent crafters would have a little table and sell there stuff. There was always some good stuff and so many people would turn out for it. Why does it seem like no schools do this anymore? Or maybe it's just where I work now?

As for the trees...seeing as I grew up in Washington State (and Denver, CO), we always used to get a REAL tree from a big tree farm. Now, I have a plastic tree that I got at CVS. The one I had before the current one, I got at Big Lots. :secret: You CAN get real trees here in the Bronx...they set up tree shops on the sidewalks....not quite sure how you're supposed to walk with all the trees in the way, but whatever. They are not that fresh though because they are already cut. :tree:

Our apartment complex won't let us have a real one. We have a 2' fibre optic tree. Since Gilles is Jewish and I'm not, it fits into our theme without being overbearing. Our theme--snowmen and Mickey Mouse!!!

Carol...you will be down here soon..Would you bring me some snow????

Can it arrive after I get home? I want warm weather!!! I joke around all the time about my birthday. I was born in a blizzard, so it couldn't be my birthday unless it snowed on that day. It did pretty good for the first 40 years, even if it was a few flakes it was snow. Since I moved to Canada, it usually doesn't snow!!!

We're going Sunday -- I can't wait!! We have a favorite tree farm we go to, their trees are amazing... they last forever.

I'm so glad it's snowing for you!! We've just got a dusting, w/ more coming this weekend. Enjoy!! :snowball:

Hope you're all having a good night... Julia's concert was great, they co-concerted w/ the 7th and 8th grade band (J's in 4th grade) and they played/sang together at the end -- it was so nice!! And once we were home, I actually got to change into cozy jammies and enjoy two episodes of Law & Order : SVU, which I LOVE (but never get to see...)... so all in all, I had a pretty great night!! :D

Allergies? Yes thats legit. My stepdad also had allergies, and they too have a fake one. The benefit of a fake one is putting it up whenever you want. We will wait about a week, as we want it to stay fresh through New years.

I've been under the knife a few too many times in the past two years, thank you very much. And that's not counting the surgeries to come once I lose a decent amount of weight.

I might have to look and see if I can find Simply Sleep up here. The insomnia is part of this stage of life I'm going through, along with the Tropical moments. Most nights I get to sleep right away and wake up in the night dying of heat and within an hour or so go back to sleep, but this week I'm having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I'm doing good if I get 4 hours of sleep.
Oh, do I remember those days/nights. :pixie: for you too!

Now, of those that put up a Christmas tree, how many already have it up?
Well, besides the fact that my new tree hasn't arrived yet, this year we'll wait for Hanukah to be over before we set up the tree. And then there's the issue of making room for it in the living room. We have a bit of exercise equipment, bicycles, boxes, etc. that needs to be moved, put away, etc.

So, Christine, how did those muffins come out?

In response to the Christmas tree questions... Dh and I own a fake one.. but we have not put it up for the last two or three Christmases... since it's just us and we go to my parents house on Christmas day we just don't see the need to have it up. My decorations consist of my Nativity scene with a giant star hanging over it. A Christmas village scene on a divider matle, and a few odds and ends set out. Nothing fancy. We keep it simple.

So, who wants to put in their order for buckeyes? My sis and I will be rolling them out on the 8th...

I'm glad to hear she's doing okay!! That's good news, esp. right before the holidays.

So, who's ready for the weekend?? I sure am... I've got to go to work tonight, but I'm just pretending it's a quick glitch and that I'm really just starting the weekend today. Anybody want to join in?

Does anyone else have more then one tree or is that just me?
We have 4. The 7 ft fake one in the Family Room, the 2 ft wooden one on the mantle, The 6 foot "hot pink" sequinned one in the Living Room, and it's little sister, the 4 foot red sequinned one beside it. We also have a huge red sequinned "ball" (about 2 feet across) suspended from the cut out in the front hall. Know what? I was looking at a really cool "ghostly white" tree for the front yard. Does the lighted Palm Tree DH put out front last year count????

So I'm in the real crowd in the tree dept. so it won't go up for a couple of weeks yet. Does anyone else have more then one tree or is that just me?

Wow!! That's impressive... we usually have three, but just can't fit them this year. :( The girls have a fiberoptic one I'll have to find a spot for, but our smaller one we used to have on the second floor will just have to stay in it's box, and our fresh one will be the only big indoor one this year.
I'm thinking we're going to do a real outdoor one this year - does that count? We've got a cute little pine tree in the backyard that I'd like to make "bird food" ornaments for for the wild birds and squirrels... I think I can run lights out to it, too. :D
I might get a small pre-lit one for the front porch... or two... I've always wanted to do that, but just keep putting it off. Maybe this will be the year?? (Do they count, too??)
And yes, I think your lit palm tree counts... one of my friends has a son overseas in the Army, and she sent him decoartions for their palm trees. So yes - it definitely counts!!

Ever see "Annie Get Your Gun?" That's from the "Col. buffalo Bill" song. I've done the character who sings it twice, so it's pretty well stuck in my head.
.

I had completely forgotten that one!! I have seen the show a couple times in the past but it has been at least 20 years since I saw it last so it completely escaped me. Besides, I can't carry a tune in a bucket if I use both hands so my theater work has always tended to be in straight plays and not musicals, especially dramas.

Have you ever seen the play J.B. by Archibald Mcleash? If you have that should tell you a lot about the kind of things I have done.

So it's lunch break time here and I just had to take a moment to share. Guess what we (daughter and I) talked my wife into doing in June? Flying down to Disney World! I never in a million years thought I'd get her on a plane, but with gas prices continuing to climb, and the stress level at work, she agreed! This means I won't have to take any time off Thursday before going, we'll be there Friday morning the 13th and not leave until following Saturday evening the 21st. We'll get to sleep in our own beds Thursday and Saturday, and have Sunday at home before going to work. This is going to be great! And with all the o.t. here, the flights are already paid for. I just had to share as I'm busting at the seams. I CAN'T WAIT FOR JUNE! :mickey:

Did I get a question in there? Oh yes, I see it. Miss you all, hope everyone is doing well.

OOOooweeeee! Canton was GOOD! Just not enough time to take it all in before we had to turn back and come home! :( I got a wonderful flower arrangement, two bubble necklaces (one for me, one for Olivia's teacher), a really cool cross mounted on a tile and sitting on an easel, a great candle holder (iron, looks like a little cannister), and some gift wrap. I could have stayed about another 3 hours minimum! I can't wait until next month!!

What did everyone else do today?

There's no rush, Sister. You have hours yet! Did you make your list?

Happy Thursday everyone! Mom's surgery went well according to my Dad -- I'll have to wait to get the real skinny on the sitch until I can talk with her myself!

List? List of what? I just throw clothes into the suitcase and hope I pack enough.

Glad to hear your mother's surgery went well....:pixie: for a speedy recovery.

You are not packed yet? Wow! With as excited as you've been I thought you would've been packed months ago! You could always just not pack anything and buy what you need in Disney! ( I believe that is an Ellen idea if my memory serves me correct)

I was waiting to see what the temperature was going to be like. Plus, Mittens likes to sleep in my suitcase. Don't why, I haven't a clue, he's a strange pussycat.

What's the rush?

I have tomorrow off, so I can pack then, between going out with my friend for lunch and getting my hair de-greyed and cut. Gilles was saying something about packing Saturday morning...we have to be at the airport at 7 am. No rush!!!

So, who's ready for the weekend??

Do you want me to answer? :D

Where did you get it??? Gilles wants one!!!

When we went down in October, we took a red eye. I got home from work late afternoon, packed in about 45 minutes, ate dinner and out the door! Course I had everything washed and ready to pick from. :D

So has anyone had those times at work where you feel totally underappreciated?? :( Thats me right now. Sometimes it seems like all the extra hard work and extra hours put in to achieving a great accomplishment are viewed as "just doing your job". Sometimes I wonder if going the extra mile makes any difference to them. :bang: Seems like the work should count for more than just personal sense of accomplishment. Guess I'll have to wait and see if there is at least a pat on the back for any of it, when everything comes to fruition the week before Christmas. OK, I'm done venting ....Didn't mean to be a downer for everyone! I feel better now.

On the up side - tomorrow is FRIDAY. Are you excited Carol?? I'm excited for you!!
Actually, I only have 2 more weeks of work, and then I'm off until after New Years! :woohoo:

I know how you feel, what's worse I'm the manager of the store. We have yearly seminars for managers and assistant manager(alternating years), I had to go for 2 years in a row when I became manager, anyway, wait until you have the president of the company laughing about the sorry condition of your store and he's the owner of the building. It's hard to try to make something go, when you know the owner doesn't care. But I care and that's what counts!!! One of my good customers was in tonight when I was saying my goodbyes to the staff and she was worried about who was going to run the store for a week!!! I guess I know who appreciates what I do and their the ones that count!!!!

Nope, not excited at all...yep that's it..not excited....ummmm I think my nose is growing!!!

I've redone my wallet...less stuff in it, recharging my camera battery,at least I'm a little started!!!

DW retired herself from banking because they kept asking for more and more and had very little appreciation for what she did. She still has old customers tell her how much they miss her. She always gave the banking a personal touch.

I'm going to try a Lapu Lapu on Wednesday (Pogo said to!!!!). I've got to try a margarita(Can you believe I've never had one?), the dole whip is questionable...is very acidic? If it has too much acid my tongue will be killing me. I love pineapple, but it doesn't like me.:(

Rhonda, those pictures are beautiful - some took my breath away. I think I've just found a new spot we have to go visit... (okay, I guess I should ask then -- where in Colorado were you??)

My sister lives about 20 miles east of Durango (south west corner of the state). The first seven pictures are at her house. The rest of the pictures are taken in Pagosa Springs and Blanca. We were going west on highway 160 out of Bayfield.

Pagosa Springs is just before you go through Wolf Creek Pass, and I think it's a very pretty little city. There is a ski resort not too far past the summit of Wolf Creek Pass. I didn't get to take any pictures through the pass as it was still pretty icy, and I was afraid if we pulled off that we might not get back on again as the pull-offs were extra icy). On the other side of Wolf Creek Pass, there's quite a little stretch that's not too pretty, but the area around Blanca was pretty nice (I still like Pagosa Springs better though). Durango is also nice, but I like Telluride and Ouray better (we made it into Durango, but I didn't post any pictures from there, and we didn't make it to Telluride or Ouray this trip, but I've been there in the past).

Nope not doing much, just sitting on a plane Saturday morning, a little sightseeing that night..should I be drinking anything for anyone?

I've been more of a daquari girl myself. My ex was an alcholic so I didn't drink much at all...one of us had to have a clear head. Even now both of us has an occasional drink..except for next week!!!

My staff, as much as they drive me nuts, are wonderful. One of the ladies gave me money for a birthday gift and my assistant manager gave me a box of chocolates!!! Question for all your wisdom, the lady who gave me the money can't afford to give it to me(I'm not suppose to know this, but bill collectors are calling her all the time at work), I told her that I really couldn't accept it and that she needed it more then me, but she insisted that I take it. What would you do? I can't give it back to her for a Christmas gift, because then I'd have to do the same for the rest of the staff and I really don't want to insult her in anyway because I depend on her to close the store some evenings. I talked to my assistant manager, and she told me just to spend it on myself, show her what I bought and thank her so very much for giving me the money, but what do I do about the guilt I'm feeling? How's that for an ethical question?

Unfortunately I don't have the appreciative customers that provide that needed "thank you" sometimes. Di, I just want you to know that my prayers for you don't have a thing to do with warmer temps for your office or a weekend job. I've moved on to asking for a whole new job for you: one with room for career growth, great benefits, and people who appreciate you (and the fact that you have a unique knack for selling mechanical pencils ;) ).

As for buying what you need at WDW, I need someway to ensure that our Disney stock doesn't take a nosedive.

Besides, I can't carry a tune in a bucket if I use both hands so my theater work has always tended to be in straight plays and not musicals, especially dramas.

Let the planning begin!

I've redone my wallet...less stuff in it, recharging my camera battery,at least I'm a little started!!!
My planning tip for the day: put all your chargers for your electronic gear into a gallon-sized plastic bag, and pack it in your carry-on. Having them altogether is useful for you and for TSA.

Anyone else have a favorite packing tip?

I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough week!! It gets that way around here, too. When I don't get a survey from the hospital following a stay, I do make it a point to write a letter to the floor manager about the great care I got, and I mention names (on the survey and/or in the letter). Hopefully, these letters/surveys mean something and will somehow come up during the performance review process.

Cindy, are you an OR nurse? Seems like you have a demanding bunch of "customers."

Nope not doing much, just sitting on a plane Saturday morning, a little sightseeing that night..should I be drinking anything for anyone?
Since you're a bit weary (and rightfully so) of the Dole Floats, how about a root  float?

T & G and Blythe, I have a kitty story...I pulled out my suitcase tonight and my cat tried to crawl into it. Do you think he's trying to pack himself?
Has your kitty been reading Figaro's trip reports?

I'll make coffee again in a few hours. Do you want New Orleans coffee & chicory, Nicaraguan organic coffee, or Starbucks holiday blend again? For you tea drinkers, we have a few different kinds of Earl Gray, English Breakfast, decaf green tea, Lady Gray... I need to restock on the Cassis tea though (can't drink Kir Royale or Vermouth Cassis anymore, so I at least want the tea). I inaugurated my new LiveStrong teapot today. :D The Royal Albert Old Country Roses pieces are arriving slowly but surely (thanks to eBay). I'm so excited (it's the little things that make me happy).

Good evening, all!

Ellen, doing those surveys really does help - that's great that you do them!! We have patients here that do them, and we're always given "kudos" if we're mentioned.

I'd love some coffee -- but I'm hoping what you meant by making it again "in a few hours" is more like 7 or 8am... I'd hate to think you're really up, keeping my hours!!

Glad you're getting the snow. Me too..... better there than here. :D

Carol, don't worry about that steamer trunk. DDTS (Drummerboy Discount Transport Services) will be by tomorrow to pick it up and deliver it to your room at WDW. If you hear something that sounds like giggling coming from the trunk, it's just...uh...it's just your imagination.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Unfortunately I don't have the appreciative customers that provide that needed "thank you" sometimes. Believe me, my "customers" are why I have such thick skin, and if they brought me cookies, I would be afraid to eat them! :D But I do pride myself on a job well done, and doing the right thing. :)

I would think the Margarita would be just as acidic as the dole whip. I have an allergy to citrus, and although I love margaritas, I have problems with them.

Afraid to eat the cookies or eat the "customers"?

Is a Margarita more acidic then a dacquri? I usually do okay with them as long as I limit it to one. I know I have a Victoria Falls Mist on the list at Boma. Really, I don't have a drinking problem!!!

Carol,
Have a great stay and a Happy Birthday!

Thank you, Deb!!!

Don't let Rachel "help".

I've had to clean off the hair which was really bad!!!

Why don't we let Rachel help?

Uh huh, yep.....no controlling her now. :D

I can't give it back to her for a Christmas gift, because then I'd have to do the same for the rest of the staff and I really don't want to insult her in anyway because I depend on her to close the store some evenings. I

Carol..first of all 4000 looks lovely on you! How about using it to purchase the staff memeber a Christmas gift? Would that work? Or perhpas you could save it and give it back to her for her birthday?

At any rate i really really hope you enjoy your trip. (and you don't have to have anything for me since it looks as if you may have a hard time remembering it with all these :marg: going on!)

Well, a bad morning here...I started a load of laundry.. went into my bedroom to get ready for work... 43 minutes later went to pack my lunch (the laundry is also in the kitchen) and noticed that the washer was still on 'filling up mode'. .it had been running, trying to fill up for 43 minutes!!! Grrrrr... THEN... I noticed the water heater making some godawful noises...I'd been hearing my toilet 'flushing' on it's own and having 'dripping' noises.. so I'm thinking something's not right.. so I call my dad who says he'll come over.. so I call my supervisor who was in the process of calling me to tell me she's sick and won't be in. I tell her what's going on and that I'll be late. She tells me to just leave for work and leave my house UNLOCKED for my dad to come in! AS IF! My house has been broken into once and two other break in attempts have been made on it...just because she lives out in the country where it's safe to do that doesn't mean all of us do! Anyway... the water heater settled down and in talking to dad learned that the toilet is a seperate thing and it's probably got a leak (it's only a year old - had it replaced last December) so I made it to work with about 3 minutes to spare.

That goes for you too, chili spaghetti girl!
Buckeyes? How is that sister of yours, anyway?

Yes, Buckeyes! Do you want some? That sister of mine is doing ok. She's having a rough time of it at her work place also. They have blamed her for something that happened while she was with me in Disneyland...so she's very upset and unhappy right now. Guess it's a sister thing for the both of us to be cursed with horrid work places...

I was waiting to see what the temperature was going to be like. Plus, Mittens likes to sleep in my suitcase. Don't why, I haven't a clue, he's a strange pussycat.

Mittens just wants to go to Disney with you. He's heard tales of a rather large rodent that hangs around there...

See above... are you sure you live in Oregon? Or are you just pretending to live there and you are actually one of my co-workers just trying to hide the fact that you are playing on Intercot?

Pogo, Blythe and any of you others up north, do you know the temperature on Sunday in Orlando is suppose to get up to 85?

:fresh:

I hope you have wonderful weather while you are there....... warm temps and lots of sunshine !

Who are you and what have you done to Pogo? :D

So, is anybody doing anything...I don't know...special this weekend?

Me? Having my toilet fixed, my water heater fixed/looked at, my clothes washer fixed...robbing a bank or two to pay for all this...

Nope not doing much, just sitting on a plane Saturday morning, a little sightseeing that night..should I be drinking anything for anyone?

With the day I'm having have SEVERAL drinks for me please!

The Lapu Lapu you are going to LOVE... one warning, though -- it is HEAVY!! Lift a few weights before you leave to build up that bicep...

Couldn't she just use a very long straw?

Wow! That is a tough one. Not sure what to say. Maybe you could have told her that it's a policy of some sort to not take money cause it could be looked at as a 'bribe' for better hours/treatment?

Hey Blythe, we are supposed to have snow Saturday afternoon/night. Last thing I heard, they said up to 6 inches! (Thats tons for us!). I'm so excited!! Have I mentioned that I LOVE snow??

Tomorrow is FRIDAY! I can't wait for the weekend! Who wants a peppermint mocha to celebrate?

Please keep all that snow up there in your little corner of the world... I just don't want it right now... it can snow starting Christmas eve.. give us a nice white Christmas day.. but then it all needs to be melted off by the day after... yep! That's the way I like my snow!

I'll take a peppermint mocha please.. HEAVY on the peppermint! It's still freezing in here...

Di, I just want you to know that my prayers for you don't have a thing to do with warmer temps for your office or a weekend job. I've moved on to asking for a whole new job for you: one with room for career growth, great benefits, and people who appreciate you (and the fact that you have a unique knack for selling mechanical pencils ).

THANK YOU Ellen! If you read my opener you will know that THIS is the perfect prayer for me! You are such a wonderful friend!
Hey- can I interest you in several dozen wonderful mechanical pencils? I have them in red and green. They make GREAT stocking stuffers! :D

What do you if when you can't sleep?

I take a Tylenol PM... or watch tv until I get sleepy.

and ours are content just to get their hair in the suitcases

That's my two doggies in a nutshell! They aren't happy unless their fur is on and in EVERYTHING!

I've heard some "lampshade" stories about you too, my friend ! We've all got them.

Sorry to burst your bubble.. but WE don't all have them!

Has anyone noticed anything a little different about me? (besides the excitement)

:pixie::pixie: for you today, Diane!! It sounds like a Murphy's Law day for you today. Just who is Murphy and why does he have this really bad law?

Do you think if I packed him anyone would notice?

The problem with her started 3 yrs ago when my assistant manager and I went together and gave her $60 for her 60th birthday. She feels like repaying me for what I did for her. I know she means well, she also gives my assistant and me Christmas gifts she can't afford, so this year we wrote a note saying that there will be no exchanging of Christmas gifts. The rest of the staff agreed with the gift thing, because we all know she really can't afford it. I have a feeling that this is in leau of that. The staff even told me not to get them anything and I feel as a boss I should give them something besides what head office tells me to give them and they say no. Have I ever said I'm blessed with a great staff?

Thank you Diane!!!

Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello?

Man, everybody must be off trying that Victoria Falls Mist or something. Guess I'll go back and hide in the steamer trunk. Wish Alex would quit tickling everybody.
