Oct. 29, 1971 – “The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World” aired on NBC-TV. The celebrity filled look at the new park included appearances by Julie Andrews, Glen Campbell, Buddy Hackett, Jonathon Winters, and Bob Hope.
Oct. 29, 1979 – WDW welcomed its 100-millionth guest.
Oct. 29, 1993 – Tim Burton’ animated fantasy, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” opened in U.S. theaters. The Disney Claymation Animated Film, features the voices of Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Paul Reubens, and Catherine O’Hara.
Oct. 29, 1993 – “The Disneyland Line” (a publication for Disneyland Cast Members) featured an article titled “The Tale of The Haunted Mansion.” It recalled the history of the popular attraction.
Oct. 29, 1998 – Disney and Chevron announced a partnership to makeover one of Disneyland’s original attractions, the “Autopia.” The updated attraction would feature a new queue, a new track and 3 new car styles. (The attraction would open in Feb. 2000.)
Oct. 29, 2001 – The Orlando Sentinel reported that the “Carousel of Progress” is now shuttered. Although there isn’t a ‘closed’ sign on the futuristic building, the attraction has been taken off Magic Kingdom guide maps and the daily bulletin board on Main Street.
Oct. 29, 2002 – Elton John performed at the Jewish Home and Hospital Gala honoring the lifelong contributions made by Michael D. Eisner and his family to the institution. Barbara Walters presided as the gala’s master of ceremony Patty and Roy E. Disney, Vice Chairman, The Walt Disney Co., served as co-chairs of the fund raising event.
Oct. 29, 2002 – Sherry Anderson replaced Mary Stout as Madame de la Grande Bouche in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” Broadway show.
Oct. 29, 2002 – The Disneyland Resort and the City of Anaheim, Ca. teamed up to celebrate the Anaheim Angels clinching The World Series. The festivities kicked off at Disneyland at 10:00am with an Anaheim Angels Hometown Heroes Welcome Cavalcade down Main Street.
Oct. 29, 2006 – The “National Fantasy Fun Club” (NFFC), a Disney enthusiast fan club, held its 1st annual convention at the Walt Disney World Swan. (3-day event)

Great info Vince!:thumbsup: Thanks! I wonder if one could find that old film from the Grand Opening??? That would be some real nostalgia! I love anything old w/ Bob Hope! I am surprised it ran on NBC. I guess that was before the ABC/Disney merger! Maybe I'll check youtube!:mickey:
