Medford Monorail Gets County
Approval to Begin Operation.

Medford NJ (April 1, 2007): Medford NJ township residents surrounding the Medford Crossings North (north side of Route 70 behind Wawa) were shocked to learn Friday that County officials have granted preliminary approval to begin operations of a 2-mile long monorail system that will run between the new Medford Crossings North and South developments and Main Street in Medford Village.

This just showed a video of the WDW monorial to help with the joke.

"We are pleased to have been given the green light to begin operating the monorail," said a Medford Crossings spokesperson, "this is much nicer than the original "jitney" idea we envisioned to shuttle shoppers from the Main Street area to our new colonial-style shopping destinations." As seen in the video, only a quarter-mile length of the monorail has been constructed as a test to ensure soil conditions would support the weight of the monorail.

Residents of both Medford Chase and Medford Village were outraged. "Nobody said anything about a monorail. None of the plans ever included a monorail," said a resident (name withheld by request). "This is not the first time FreedCo (the center developer) has pulled this kind of thing."

According to the ammended site plans, the monorail route will begin at a station behind the Wawa, cross over Route 70, and follow Branch Street into the Village. It ends at the Medford Township Offices at 17 North Main Street.

Medford Township officials were unavailable for comment. All council members are in Las Vegas attending a training session called "Selling Artificial Turf Fields to the Taxpayer." Click for Full Story.
