Oct. 24, 1994 – Disney’s animated TV series “Gargoyles: began airing. (Ended Aug. 29, 1997)
Oct. 24, 1997 – The Orlando Sentinel ran an article over the controversy about WDW closing the “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” attraction. Actors Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, stars of The Wonderful World of Disney’s “Tower of Terror,” came out strongly pro-toad while Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, made it clear that he is a Pooh man.
Oct. 24, 1997 - Family PC reopened at Innoventions East after moving to a larger exhibit area, it was moved to where Disney used to be.
Oct. 24, 1998 – Epcot’s “International Food & Wine Festival” began in WDW. (Ran through Nov. 22nd)
Oct. 24, 2001 – The Walt Disney Co. completed its acquisition of Fox Family Worldwide, Inc. from Haim Saban and the Fox Broadcasting Co. The final purchase price was $5.2 billion, including approximately $2.9 billion in cash and the assumption of $2.3 billion in Fox Family obligations. (The Fox Family Channel would be turned into ABC Family Channel.)
Oct. 24, 2001 – John R. “Jack” Shively Sr., one of the original builders of WDW, passed away at the age of 71. Shively, who started in 1969 carved designs into the theme park walls, put up fences, and helped construct many attractions before retiring in 1992.
Oct. 24, 2001 – NYSNC’s Lance bass and Joey Fatone visited WDW to lead the new “Share a Dream Come True” parade at the Magic Kingdom, and starred as the grand marshals in the new “Disney Stars and Motor Cars” parade at Disney-MGM Studios.
Oct. 24, 2002 – It was reported that Disney’s “Monsters, Inc.” sold 13 million copies worth $250 million on VHS and DVD internationally.
Oct. 24, 2003 – Disney’s animated film “Brother Bear” debuted at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, Ca.
Oct. 24, 2005 – As a result of Hurricane Wilma, all 4 WDW theme parks, two water parks, resort amenities (Downtown Disney, the golf courses) and Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground were closed for the morning. All theme parks (except Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Disney-MGM Studios) and Downtown Disney re-opened at 1:00pm.

On our Nov 2005 trip, the couple in the site next to us at Ft. Wilderness told us about being moved to the All-Star during the hurricane. Disney always has a plan:thumbsup:
