It seems like I heard something about Toontown having it's own opening ceremony each day is that true?

It really isn't much of a "ceremony". Characters come out, and some escort people to their meeting location. It basically is to just open up Toontown. And I don't know if he still does, but sometimes Goofy will ride the Barnstormer with a kid.

when i was there last..
(in october)
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum opened it up.. and then as soon as it opened, they dissapeared...
Goofy went on Barnstormer with the first kid in line!

Did the Tweedles do any kind of meet and greet before the opening or did they just show up and then disappear?

When Tweedle Dee and Dum are out, they meet over by the Teacups. That must have been just some random thing.

at the opening i went to..
they didn't do any sort of meet and greets

Actually, Mickey's Toontown over @ DL has an opening ceremony called "Morning Madness" which is only available to some select people when the park opens. It opens up with Mickey & friends coming out with flags and dancing to the Toontown theme song, then Mickey comes in front of Toontown's City Hall where he makes a speech welcoming everyone and stuff. There's a video of it on Youtube somewhere, you should try to search for it.
