We're doing our first cruise 3 land/4 sea in April '08 for our 20th anniversary. Is there someplace we can find costs for the excursions? for instance - since Nassau sounds like a bust maybe we should do Paradise Island, or better to save $$$ and just stay onboard.
Thanks

You can find the cost of the excursions online at disneycruise.com and pick the port and go under the shore excursions and the prices are on the information page for each individual excursion. We went last march we went to the atlantis beach day and it was beautiful, but we spent more time saying no to all of the venders on the beach(10 or so in the hour on the beach) than anything else. They now have an excursion where you can use all of the water slides and such but it is pricy. We go again in Feb 08 for an 8 year delayed honeymoon and we will be staying on the ship this time.

We're going on the 4-night Bahamas cruise in June 2008. From everything I've read so far, Nassau doesn't seem to be a great place to visit. I understand there is a casino at the Atlantis resort. Does anyone know if you can just go to the casino without having to pay for an excursion?

Does anyone know if you can just go to the casino without having to pay for an excursion?Yes. You just need to make your own travel arrangements. Your choices are a taxi or water taxi. The water taxi is a nice way to see the Island and it's inexpensive. Downside is that you are asked to tip the local guide (?) and you're dropped off with still about a 10-15 minute walk to the resort. The taxi offers door to door service from the Welcome Center to the resort. DH and I took the water taxi route and spent a little time at the Atlantis. It's really beautiful and the marina had some nice boats docked. The downside is that smoking is allowed everywhere it seemed and the casino machines spit out paper receipts as opposed to real coins dinging. I wasn't overly impressed. Glad we did it once, but it won't be on our list of things to do the next time.

Some people love Nassau and really get into haggling with the local merchants over souveniers. Other people are uncomfortable with the seemingly constant solicitations. Being on the 4 night cruise, you will have a day at sea, so I would say that if you've never been to Nassau, to at least get off the ship and take a look around. There are many shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk from the ship. One very important thing to take note of though, are the dining times on board the ship. If you miss out on lunch, you'll end up with only having the choice of fast food or room service.

I agree with Tammi here. My children wanted to have a look around just to say they visited Nassau. We walked a few blocks to the Pirate Museum and that was enough to convince them Nassau was not for us. Next time it's Atlantis or stay put on the ship. Although I hope "next time" will be the 7 day trip. :)
