When we decided to go to the Grand Canyon 8 months ago I got lots of good tips from everyone. The whole trip is now planned and we have 30 days to go before we leave so I wanted to see if there are any last minute tips that anyone has for us. It can be a great restaurant, great view, clothing etc.

We are flying into Las Vegas and immediately driving to the Canyon, staying for three days then back to Vegas for 7 days.

We have been to Vegas before so we are pretty comfortable with our plans there, but the Canyon is new for us. We will be there Oct 18th, 19th and 20th.

Since I've never been, I can't offer any real last minute trips except, don't fall in! ;)

Have a great time!

If you have the time you should stop in Sedona, it's on the way from Vegas to the Canyon. We heard about it from the state trooper that stopped us for speeding. DH and I had gone with another couple, and one of them was driving. It turned out to be a great tip!! The scenery was beautiful, they have the only McDonalds with teal green arches. While in Sedona we ate at a great Mexican restaurant called Wild Toucan.

If you go to the West Rim, take a walk on the Sky Walk. It is a glass walkway hanging out over the canyon.

We have not been to the West Rim but we have been to both the South and North Rims. The North Rim was much more impressive to us.

If you go to the West Rim, take a walk on the Sky Walk. It is a glass walkway hanging out over the canyon. I was actually going to ask you if you'd planned on doing this. It looks a little scary, but I think I'd do it.

I agree with the person who suggested Sedona. It's absolutely gorgeous. And then stop in and see El Tovar inside the GC National Park.

The GC is amazing. I've been twice, and I really love it.

I guess I should have mentioned that we are going to the South Rim. The West Rim glass overlook seems really impressive but I don't know if I would have the courage to walk on it.

We are staying at the El Tovar while we are there and I'm really excited since I have heard alot of good stuff about it.

Sedona seems like a possibility but probably on the way back to Las Vegas since on the way out we will have a 5 hour flight and then 5 hours of driving all on the same day.

Does anyone know if there are places to stop and eat and use the restroom from Las Vegas to the Canyon?

Does anyone know if there are places to stop and eat and use the restroom from Las Vegas to the Canyon?Yes they are. I'm sorry that I can't tell you exactly where, but the last time I went to Vegas we took an escorted bus tour to the Canyon and stopped about three times use the restroom, buy snacks, and have lunch.

If you have time check out Walnut Canyon just outside of Flagstaff and Sunset Crater. Both of these are National Monuments. There are also many Indian ruins in the area. You can check them out at www.nps.gov and clicking on Arizona.
