I have read that new banking guidelines will go into effect for the 2008 use year. It will give us 8 months to bank 100% of our points. After that, no banking. I hear that this is in the Fall Vacation Magic issue. Has anyone received that yet? Aren't the existing guidelines easy enough to understand?

I have not heard anything about new banking guidelines our have yet to receive the Fall Vacation Magic issue.I don't think it is hard to understand the way they tier the points for banking, but if they switch to 8 months at 100% that is even easier. It also gives you that little extra time before deciding to bank points if you are unsure on making a trip, because once their banked, you cannot unbank them.

Yes - I agree. 8 months at 100% is as clear as can be. I look forward to receiving confirmation on this. :mickey:

It's true- changing as of Jan/ 1st 2008. Personally I never have had any banking issues but I know several members who would forget, lose track of time, etc. So this will make it crystal clear.

Just opened the Fall Vacation Magic that came in today's mail.

They are calling it the "book or bank by four before" rule. It deals with banking as well as booking member getaways exchanges.

All outlines on page two in Jim Lewis' column.

Haven't had time to look at much, but appears to be an interesting edition of the magazine.

How do I get the Vacation Magic Mag?

It gets mailed to all members I think 4 times a year. I have not receved the new one yet, but we should all be seeing it in the next few days.

Hello all
Can you expand a little on this for me.

Lets say I have points in my Sept,2008 use year.
When would I need to get those points banked? and
How long could they stay banked?

JTWith a September use year, any 2008 points you want banked would have to be done before the end of April, 2009. (End of the 8th month following the beginning of your use year)

The banked points would be good for stays that occur between 9/1/2009 and 8/31/2010. If you do not use the banked points during that time, they will expire and be lost to you.

I'm still unclear about the "new" banking guidelines and will respond when I get more info about it.

But "banked points" can be used - in fact must be used - during your next use year. You can bank points for ONE year only; after that, you lose them.

Frank, if I bank points to next year, and use more than I banked, but not all of my 2008 points, does MS pull from the banked points first?

When I checked with MS about using banked points first, they have always confirmed they pulled them first. It probably doesn't hurt to check in case you get a new cast member.

MS will use "banked points" first.
However, it wouldn't hurt to ask them if they did use the banked ones automatically. From what I do understand, banked points are used first.
