Friday night we played for the grand opening of Jock Daniels in Bunkie, Louisiana. The crowd was small... maybe 50... and varied in age ranges, but we had enough material to please all.
We FINALLY got our banner hung but had to hang it behind our lighting tressle because the tripods holding up the tressle were up against the wall and if the banner had hung from it, it would've been on top of our drummers head!

We reaked of cigarettes afterwards but went to a truck-stop for "breakfast" at 2:30 in the morning (we played from 9 pm to 1 am). We laughed and drew some attention in that little town and by the time I got home & showered for bed it was 4 am.
In the morning I got up and showered again (cigarette stink!) and brought my van-full of equipment back to our practice shed were we were set to play a bar-b-que for our bassists' daughter birthday. Our drummer was too worn out to show up, so we just did what we could. There was a 30 foot inflatable waterslide for the kids (yeah, right!) and we all had fun late into the evening, and now I'm home and ready for some sleep!

Cool Pictures Ice  I liked all the different hats your drummer had. Sounds like you had fun even if you smelled of smoke :D or maybe

Can't wait for my DVD! :drummer: :rocker:

And here I am, allergic to cigarette smoke! Guess it's now a hazard of my little side-job, eh?

I too had a few nasty run-in's with Jack during my youthful dumb-dumb days. He's no longer welcome in my house.
Have no idea how they chose the name for the bar... copyright infringement maybe?

I love your bandmates T-shirt.

No job
No money
No car
But I'm in a band.

:)

I hope getting my DVD ready for customs wasn't a hassle. I'm looking forward to seeing it. :(

Customs??? Oh no! Is a RELIX DVD considered illegal contrabandup in the Great White North?!? I've got my fingers crossed for ya...
(Maybe when they see it, check it out, they may just decide to keep it & say, "DVD? We haven't seen any DVD's come through here?")

You didn't fill out the long paper with 3 copies and asks your life story (actually was short form that you couldn't fit your writing into)? I had to do that just for some pins I sent her.

Dino: Hey Ice Just wanted to let you know I got your DVD today!! Can't wait to watch it Thanks again! Glad customs didn't get yours. Hope ya like & the format works on your DVD player! I just found out from our drummer that it doesn't work on his... but it does on everybody elses.

Yeah they like to make things difficult up here...

I'll just wait to receive my autographed copy in person! Then I can be Ice's roadie all day and won't have to worry about JK & Dino chasing me away :fresh:

I'll be happy to autograph your copy Terri, however it's not very likely to be A) legible and/or B) have a very good resale value on EBay! ;)
Funny thing about Roadies; The drumers wife & mine act as our Roadies when they can travel with us because he's had back surgery & mine isn't that far behind him. I think it's a nurturing thing where they're trying to take care of us poor old ancient rockers! I must say, the drummers wife can tear down, set up & then tear back down and pack up a drum set faster than anyone I have ever seen during my 25 years of doing this! It's amazing to watch! And my wife does all of my heavy lifting while I do the actual plugging this wire into amps, pedal boards, guitars, which straps I'm using for which guitar, placement of pedal boards in relation to my monitor & cabinets... whew, I'm starting to break a sweat just thinking about all of this!
ALL ROADIES WELCOME!!! :D

I did not... I repeat; DID NOT geton that inflatable waterslide.
However...
This last weekend our bassist rented a 30 foot inflatable waterslide much like the one seen on the DVD. Because of my back, I stood and taped the band making fools of themsleves with the kids (and Lady Ice too!)
Glad the DVD's are showing up & that you're liking them!

Mine will probably take longer since I've probably furthest away. Can't wait. :)

Actually not joking about the customs paperwork. They did have me fill out form to send Patti her pins last year. :(

I know Cat! I sell on ebay alot and ship from WA state since I'm right on the border. You should see the paperwork I have to fill out :faint:

See? I knew she was gonna try to sell her signed copy on E-Bay!:nono:
Well, music is hopefully a universal language, so maybe the DVD won't get hassled too much going across the border. We used the same company that Christy does all of her corporate shipping with, so they're actually pretty good & knowledgable about what we need to do when sending stuff across country and around the world. No problems yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
IF there is a problem though, I think between Cat & myself that we can get copies out to those attending either the WDW or DLR meets.

Do you accept applications for groupies?? :rotfl:

BTW - also loved the 'But I'm in a band' t-shirt. Where did your friend get that?

wizardmickey
09-08-2007, 01:01 AM
Groupies? Huh... Think Lady Ice put a serious hurt on me if we even made applications available for that! Roadies; YES. Instrument Techs: YES.
And the shirt? I'll have to ask him... I'm not really sure to be honest.
