Aug. 27, 1955 – The “Mickey Mouse Club Theater” opened in Disneyland’s Fanatsyland, and would eventually close in 1964. (Renamed the Fantasyland Theater)
Aug. 27, 1964 – Disney’s live-action and animated film “Mary Poppins,” starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, had its world premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Ca.
Aug. 27, 1968 – Master animator Bill Tytla, creator of “Grumpy and Dumbo,” was rejected by Disney to get his old job back. Tytla even offered to work on spec on a test to get back in. (He would die a year later.)
Aug. 27, 1988 – The Disney Channel Premiere film “A Friendship in Vienna” aired.
Aug. 27, 1993 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Father Hood” was released.
Aug. 27, 1996 – The Disney TV series “Homeboys In Outer Space” began airing on UPN. (Last time aired May 13, 1997)
Aug. 27, 1988 – The Disney TV movie “A Friendship in Vienna” aired.
Aug. 27, 1994 – Disney’s animated TV series “Marsupilami” began airing on CBS.
Aug. 27, 1998 – Town Square Exposition Hall (which houses the Camera Center) opened in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Aug. 27, 2004 – A “Magical Weekend & Mouseketeer Reunion 2004” was held at the Flicks Gallery in Itasca, Illinois. Bill Farmer (voice of Goofy), Tony Anselmo (animator and voice of Donald Duck), along with 6 original Mouseketeers, Tommy Cole, Sherry (Allen) Alberoni, Doreen Tracy, Karen Pendleton, Bobby Burgess, and Sharon Baird conducted Q & A sessions. (3-day event)
