Aug. 19, 1938 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Whalers” was released.
Aug. 19, 1955 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Bearly Asleep” was released.
Aug. 19, 1963 – Actor-musician John Stamos (who was the E-Bay winning bidder for Disneyland’s entrance sign used between 1989 and 1999) was born in Cypress, Ca.
Aug. 19, 1989 – The Disney Channel’s “Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain” began airing in syndication.
Aug. 19, 1994 – The Disney film “Color of Night” was released.
Aug. 19, 2001 – The refreshment/snack booth “Scuttle’s Landing” closed for a 6-day rehab in Fantasyland at WDW.
Aug. 19, 2002 – The Travel Channel aired “Disney Imagineers” for the first time.
Aug. 19, 2004 – Disney producer and supervisor Harry Tytle passed away at the age of 95. For 40 years he worked (alongside Walt Disney) as co-producer of the Disney TV series. Tytle also wrote the book “One of Walt’s Boys.”
Aug. 19, 2005 – The Walt Disney Pictures Present animated feature “Valiant” opened in theaters.
Aug. 19, 2006 – “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” had its last show at Disney-MGM Studios in WDW.
