I love concept art. And I like the fact the Bride's not carrying an axe....I think that's the only thing I don't like in the change. I tend to like the movie version where she's killed and made to look like a suicide...it kinda explains the hung corpse being a case of lover's remorse.

Thanks for the post. Can't wait to see it. Hard to visualize how they'll do the floating Madame Leota but it should be cool.

Are these actual pins for sale?? Where did you see them? As a pin collector, and as someone who will be in the parks mere days before the HM opens but won't be able to see it, I want these!!:number1:

Are these actual pins for sale?? Yes, these are actual pins.

They were released August 19, 2007 as the "Haunted Mansion Ride Thru Series #6".

The official pin names in order of appearance in the original post are "Floating Candelabra", "Portrait Gallery", "Bride" and "Madam Leota".

Each pin is set for retail at $10.

Each pin style is a limited edition of 300.

These pins are a only sold at the WDI Cast Member store in California (Mickey's of Glendale).

There's been a trend of putting out different series of pins as Imagineering exclusives which show off concept art for various projects (other pin series have included things like Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, the Pirates additions of Jack Sparrow, Haunted Mansion Holiday for Tokyo Disney and maybe the most unusual were for a "Stitch" Mountain overlay concept for Space Mountain).

Those pins look great! I can't wait to see it the next time I go. Haunted Mansion did need a bit of a refresher, in my humble opinion. Thanks for the picture link! :number1:

Unfortunately for us pin lovers, those pins are not available in the parks. They are limited Editions 300, and are only made available at the Disney Studios in Burbank, I was told. :(

THose are great!!! I can't wait to go on it in October, great at Halloween time!!! I was wondering on the stair pic, is it like the movie scene when there are two staircases on either side? I have never been to DLand, but isn't that how it's set up there or in the Paris DL?

I was wondering on the stair pic, is it like the movie scene when there are two staircases on either side? I have never been to DLand, but isn't that how it's set up there or in the Paris DL?

Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris does have a dramatic grand staircase at their loading area, but the staircase going into WDW's haunted mansion you'll pass actually while in your doombuggy takes some design cues from MC Escher's Relativity but also goes back to some original concept ideas and special effects found in some early renderings that you can actually spot in Jason Surrel's book on the Haunted Mansion that we've been able to revisit and pull off with new technology- an example of "plussing" the attraction by finding a way to incorporate an effect the early Imagineers thought up with new technology.

I don't want to spoil some of the effects but will offer some background. With the new staircase scene it actually makes for better storytelling.

In the background of the ride's soundtrack there's an audible cue that was meant to sync up with a planned visual effect where you would notice evidence of the ghosts traveling through the mansion and really hear and feel their presence get closer and closer as this is all set up by the ghost host's narration (where he says "Every room has wall to wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills.... Shhhh.... Listen....")

Now with what we're able to do with the enhanced onboard audio in the doombuggies all these show elements fit in place.
