Aug. 15, 1936 – Disney animator Ward Kimball married Betty Lawyer (who has been working in Disney’s Ink and Paint Department for a year.)
Aug. 15, 1946 – Disney’s animated “Make Mine Music,” 10 shorts combined into a compilation, was generally released. Narrated by Nelson Eddy, the film features the voices and sounds of vocalist Dinah Shore, band-leader clarinest Benny Goodman, Sterling Holloway, and singing trio The Andrew Sisters.
Aug. 15, 1994 - Spaceship Earth closed for rehab to change the narration to Irons and new scenes/end added.
Aug. 15, 1994 - Earth Station at Spaceship Earth closed and would reopen as Global Neighborhood.
Aug. 15, 1994 – The 1st “Family PC” Magazine was published by Disney.
Aug. 15, 1999 - Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, Disney Wonder, made it’s maiden voyage.
Aug. 15, 2003 – Disney World’s attraction Mission Space, and the International Space Training Center soft opened in Future World at Epcot.
Aug. 15, 2003 – The new 19,500 square foot facility “Reedy Creek Station” opened on Buena Vista Drive.
Aug. 15, 2003 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “My Dinner with Dig” aired on the Disney Channel.
Aug. 15, 2003 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “The Cheetah Girls” aired. (Despite a widespread blackout in the Northeast, “The Cheetah Girls” were watched by about 65 million viewers.)
