Aug. 14, 1953 – Composer James Horner, whose music could be heard throughout the Disney parks, was born in Los Angeles, California.
Aug. 14, 1987 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Can’t Buy Me Love” was released.
Aug. 14, 1990 – Disney’s Educational film “Who Owns the Sun?” was released.
Aug. 14, 1995 – Michael Ovitz was appointed president of the Walt Disney Co. He would leave Disney after a year of trying to share power with Michael Eisner.
Aug. 14, 1998 – The Recording Association of America certified Disney’s “Mulan” soundtrack gold.
Aug. 14, 1998 – Disney’s direct-to-video “Air Bud: Golden Retriever,” was released. The film is the sequel to the 1997 film “Air Bud.”
Aug. 14, 1999 - The rest of SEGA closed at Innoventions West. A portion closed a month earlier, along with Lutron Ultimate Home Theater Experience.
Aug. 14, 1999 - All of Innoventions West exhibits closed as well as IBM for a Small Planet to be refurbished and prepared for the Millenium Celebration.
Aug. 14, 2004 – The Disney Philharmonic Orchestra performed 2 shows starting today at Tatton Park in the U.K. (Aug. 14, 15)
Aug. 14, 2004 – Due to the impact of Hurricane Charley, WDW adjusted this day’s schedule of operations. All theme parks with the exception of the Animal Kingdom re-opened to guests.
