Apparently, the name change at DS is good for something. According to a FAQ recently given to cast members which provides answers to questions from guests, Disney's response is this: "We feel the Sorcerer Mickey Hat truly represents the magic of show business and the entertainment wizardry of Disney. This imaginitive icon falls in line with the tradition of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth at Epcot, and the Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom."
I'm sure this will anger some, but I for one was not interested in having another great icon removed. Losing the wand infuriated me, my family, all my friends that have gone, and more. I'm glad Disney is holding on to it, at least for a little longer.
