I don't know if Disney is working on any new countries in the WS, but if you could choose new addtions, what would they be.

I would love to see:

Greece
Russia
Isreal
Iceland

I think Greece would be fantastic.

A) Good food.
B) Interesting culture.
C) Ride potential with a mythical tie-in.
D) A place for the Hercules gang to do the ocasional meet and greet.

Greece would be a fine addition. I can imagine a lovely mix of ancient and modern; myth and reality. Ruins and food. Yes, please.

I agree, Egypt and Australia would be wonderful additions also!

Does anyone know how many more countries Disney could accomodate and possibly why they haven't "filled" in the available space???

Australia /NZ for me as its a continent thats not represented as such at Epcot

Egypt has alot of scope and if built with the right ride or film i am sure would have the potential to be the best of all the countries

Greece ..would be the same as Egypt but there are
already 5 european countries already so i would like to see a south american country such as Brazil or Peru there or India there again wanting a new continent

I say ROMANIA. This way they can put in Count Dracula's Castle. They can tone it down a bit, but it would be a great way to have another Haunted Mansion ride.

I would like to see Russia or Greece as first choices. Both have existing character tie-ins, plus have fabulous food.

Isreal is a maybe, but I would like to also see a Slavic country - if that wouldn't be part of the Russian pavillion.

Iceland I think is covered by the Norway pavillion, so I pass on that one. We already have Morocco - do we need Egypt, another North African country?

Greece would be great, As would Russia, Romania, or another South American locale. But how about a pavillion in a tropical setting.

Funny you should pose this question, since my husband and I were contemplating this very thing (althought admitedly tongue in cheek). We were missing our weekly Tex Mex while on vacation to WDW. Living right in the heart of the best Mexican food ever created and the best barbecue to boot, we thought of a huge building with the name TEXAS-IT'S A WHOLE 'NOTHER COUNTRY(an actual tourism slogan created a few years ago). Inside would be two restaurants-one TEX-MEX and the other Texas Barbecue.

We just spent 6 days at WDW in June and visiting Intercot just keeps me going until next Summer for trip # 27.

I vote Israel. I have alot of respect for that country. It's like a small U.S.A. in the middle east. Free and represented.

I think Greece would be great for the food, but I would love to see how Disney would do EGYPT. I think they could probably do great replicas of the pyramids and the Sphinx.

1) First, Disney does not build new countries.
2) Disney builds exhibits that countries or companies sponsor.
3) So, new countries would have to be funded by other than Disney.
4) Then, they have to pay each year to run the exhibit.
5) This means a long term commitment of tens of millions of dollars.
6) Consider a full attraction, not just a space (like the African Outpost)

7) With that in mind, we need to see why countries are sponsored.
. . . to help a country's tourism
. . . to increase a country's business trade or industry
8) This would eliminate many countries
. . . Greece - has as much tourism as they can stand
. . . Israel - not a big potential tourist destination
. . . Mideast Counties - too war-torn for tourism
. . . Most African Countries - too poor for an exhibit
. . . Indian Subcontinent - too poor for an exhibit
. . . Balkan States - too poor for an exhibit
. . . South American Countries - too poor for an exhibit
9) Possible Candidates
. . . Indonesia - booming industry and lots of money
. . . Russia - growing economy and needs for more trade
. . . Australia/NZ - good tourism site and could use more trade
. . . Korea - could be a good toruism destination

EDIT: I personally would like to see Korea. It is an interesting country with a different culture. If North & South ever make a good peace, the tourism could be great.

Oh, RustyScupper....you are bringing FAR too much realism into this hypothetical thread!!

Anyways....I think it'd be great to see a country that represents an area of the world that is under-represented at World Showcase. For example, while the Outpost is not a particular country, they could expand that (oh wait...they did...it's called Animal Kingdom). Other possibilities for me have already been mentioned, such as Greece, Australia, and Brazil.

1) Oops.
2) OK, let me get back into the fantasy.
3) How about
. . . Ecuador - with a Darwin exhibit
. . . Monaco - with Monte Carlo nights
. . . Poland - with a pierogi restaurant
. . . Brazil - with permanent tourist groups

:laughing::rotfl::laughing:

I know it's not a nice way to think, that the "Ugly Guests are of every nationality and that they represent less than 0.2% of the people out there but I just find this entry so engaging that I am ready to support a Brazilian pavilion just for those who love to misbehave. They would have their own place and leave the rest of us in peace. :D
