Aug. 7, 1964 – The “AstoJets” at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland were renamed to “Tomorrowland Jets.”
Aug. 7, 1969 – The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland opened to cast members only from 7:00pm to midnight. The new attraction will open to the public 2 days later. (This attraction’s beginnings can be traced back to the mid-1950’s when Walt Disney had artist Ken Anderson work on a walk-through “ghost-house.”)
Aug. 7, 1974 – Disney’s film “The Castaway Cowboy” was released.
Aug. 7, 1989 – Disney’s Educational film “Ships,” from the Goofy’s Field Trip series was released.
Aug. 7, 1992 – Disney’s 8-minute cartoon “Petal to the Metal” was released along with the feature “3-Ninjas.”
Aug. 7, 1999 - Rose & Crown Pub and Rose & Crown Dining Room closed for rehab in the United Kingdom at Epcot.
Aug. 7, 2004 – The Disney Philharmonic Orchestra performed 25 shows starting on this day at Roundhay Park in the U.K.
Aug. 7, 2004 – “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” had its World Premiere at the AMC Downtown Disney Theaters in California.
Aug. 7, 2004 – Writer and producer Arthur Alsberg passed away in Los Angeles, Ca. Originally a radio comedy writer, Alsberg went on to co-write such Disney films as “Hot Lead & Cold Feet,” “Gus,” “Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo,” and “No Deposit, No Return.”
Aug. 7, 2005 – “SaveDisney.com” permanently closed down. Roy E. Disney has come to an agreement with the new management at the Walt Disney Company regarding their mutual relationship.
