I just read on the website that headphones are not allowed during the WDW Marathon. I don't understand the purpose. I love listening to music on my ipod as I run. Any thoughts?

Probably a safety thing. If you can't hear instructions you can't follow directions. If it takes place on any roads, then you have the whole traffic considerations to take into account too.

Not sure why WDW bans them, i've run a few races and some do/some don't allow them and I think in those cases it's for safety sake since you're running (usually) on the street. With Disney I assume all roads are closed, but I'd still say safety is their primary reason.

We ran it a few years ago and they kept saying the same thing.

There were many, many people who still used their ipods, etc, when running. They just put them on once the race started; no one told them to take them off after the run started. We chose to follow the rules, however! :D
