July 22, 1955 – The Candy Palace opened on Main Street in Disneyland.
July 22, 1955 – The “Rocket to the Moon” attraction opened in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. (Closed Sept. 5, 1966)
July 22, 1955 – Actor Willem Dafoe, the voice of Gill in the 2003 “Finding Nemo,” was born in Appleton, Wisconsin.
July 22, 1967 – Irene Bedard, the voice of Pocahontas in Disney’s 1995 film, was born in Anchorage, Alaska.
July 22, 1986 – Floyd Gottfredson, the man who gave Mickey Mouse his comic strip personality, passed away at his Southern California home.
July 22, 1989 – The “Disney Presents a Preview of Coming Attractions” on Disneyland’s Main Street closed.
July 22, 1994 – “The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror” attraction opened at Disney-MGM Studios at WDW.
July 22, 2003 – Walt Disney Records released the soundtrack to the hit Disney Channel original animated series “Kim Possible.”
July 22, 2004 – The Walt Disney Co. honored some of the most creative teachers across the country with the annual Disneyland Teachers Award. Thirty-nine talented educators were recognized during a 4-day event at the Disneyland park.
July 22, 2004 – Christy Carlson Romano (the current Belle in Disney’s Broadway Show “Beauty and the Beast”) took part in “Broadway at Bryant Park” in N.Y.C. The event included casts from other Broadway Shows as well.
