July 20, 1932 – Disney’s Silly Symphony cartoon “Flowers and Trees” was released.
July 20, 1941 – The Walt Disney compilation feature “The Reluctant Dragon” was released.
July 20, 1955 – The “Tomorrowland Boats” (later called the “Phanthom Boats”) opened in Disneyland.
July 20, 1969 – The historic Apollo 11 moon landing was televised on Disneyland’s Tomorrowland Stage. Neil Armstrong (who in July 2005 would take part in the re-opening of Disneyland’s Space Mountain) became the very first human to set foot on the moon.
July 20, 1981 – TIME magazine ran an article titled “The Great Era of Walt Disney” in this week’s issue.
July 20, 1985 – Virgil Waytes, Jr. became the 200,000,000th guest at WDW.
July 20, 1994 – The Disney TV series “Dinosaurs” aired for the last time on ABC.
July 20, 1997 - Le Cellier Steakhouse in Canada opened with its new name and new menu.
July 20, 2000 – Artist, author and illustrator Eyvind Earle, known for his beautiful background work on such Disney films as “Sleeping Beauty” and “Lady and the Tramp,” passed away at age 84. He also designed 5 murals for Disneyland.
July 20, 2001 – The Disney/Touchstone Pictures film “Crazy/Beautiful” was released.
