We will returning to Disney in September and I am SERIOUSLY considering having our luggage shipped directly to the resort as to avoid lost baggage/delays. Since we are traveling with our 2 (almost 3) year old we don't want to take any chances and travel as light as possible. Has anyone ever done this before? We have on other trips but never to Disney......:mickey:

We do this every year..and then some..we ship food, luggage, drinks, extra clothing...christmas tree, lights, and decorations...and then ship it all back home before we leave. works like a charm..just be sure to ship things home from the resort, not the parks..!!:D

:welcome: to Intercot!!!!

Absolutely you can do this, though I would suggest using DME if you're flying. Magical Express has done a stellar job of transporting luggage (they scan it something like 5-6 times so they know where it is at every moment) and that would save you the shipping expense.

:mickey: Welcome to INTERCOT!! :mickey:

We shipped some items one Christmas and learned a very important tip... the hard way.
Make sure you ship via UPS, Fed Ex or DHL. Do NOT use the USPS, or your boxes will be delayed.
When you use a delivery service (UPS, etc.) they deliver right to the resort.
If you use the post office, they deliver to a clearinghouse, and then they get around to sorting and delivering to the resort sometime later. (Your Delivery Confirmation will show it was delivered, but it won't be to the resort on the address label)
If you are planning to ship your clothes, you may want to have a couple of days' worth in your carryon, just in case. No matter how you ship.

As Strmchsr suggests, Disney's Magical Express actually does a great job of delivering your luggage for you (no matter what airline you use). The extra benefit comes when you are flying home. If you are on a "participating" airline, you can check your bags and get your boarding pass right at your resort.
