July 17, 2001 – A dedication took place for “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” at Disneyland. Academy-Award winning actor Martin Landau took part in the ceremony by delivering the Gettysburg Address.
July 17, 2001 - Disney released two animated films on VHS, “The Book of Pooh: Stories From the Heart,” and “Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin,” was re-released on VHS and for the 1st time on DVD.
July 17, 2002 – Daniel Rodriquez, the N.Y.C. police officer and tenor who made appearances singing patriotic songs following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorists attacks, performed in a ceremony celebrating the 47th Anniversary of Disneyland.
July 17, 2002 – Epcot was closed for the day at WDW due to an electrical fire that occurred around 3:30am which cut power to several areas of the Florida resort.
July 17, 2003 – At Disneyland, a ceremony was held at 7:45 am on Main Street U.S.A. to celebrate the park’s 48th birthday.
July 17, 2004 - Tink’s Summer Pin Quest took place at WDW’s Contemporary Resort.
July 17, 2004 – The new pyrotechnics show “Bravisemo!” made its debut at Tokyo DisneySea,
July 17, 2004 – Disneyland introduced “The Happiest Faces on Earth… A Disney Family Album” on the park’s 49th anniversary during a ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The program is an invitation to people around the world to send in their cherished Disney memories (especially their favorite Disneyland memories) in the form of photographs, snapshots, or digital images. The submissions will be woven together to create a series of extremely unique photo collages for the park’s 50th anniversary.
July 17, 2005 – Disneyland celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
July 17, 2005 – At 10:00a.m., Disneyland hosted a ceremony to celebrate the park’s 50th anniversary. Art Linkletter (who helped host the opening in 1955), Bob Iger, Michael Eisner, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Diane Disney Miller (Walt’s eldest daughter) were in attendance. At exactly 4:45 in the afternnon, Walt Disney’s Disneyland opening day dedication speech was shown on Jumbo Trons around the park.
