Deep South Meet

Several of us have been talking about having a get together for ALL of us down in the gulf coast and or Southern region. I am posting here in hopes for input.
Sgt. Tigger, his wife and Here We Go Again.... have discussed places and that we hope would suit many. We talked bout having it @ Sgt.Tigger's so hopefully it would be in between for many....
Any thoughts????

I do feel like I know you already. We lived in Mobile in 1993-94. My kids went to Corpus Christi off Airport. My brother lives there so I'm in Mobile a lot esp passing through to WDW and Orange Beach. My brother complains b/c I don't always stop but so often it's either real late coming back from WDW or real early if we leave here before dawn.
Wish you could come but maybe this will be the first of many.

Ok, I'm not from NYC, I'm from Rockland County which is 32 miles NW of the city. :razz: But, maybe Pepsi is a north thing. I drink it because it's the only thing I've been drinking since I was a lovestruck teenager of 16 years of age who had a crush on the guy that delivered Pepsi to my high school :blush:

3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. water
2 tsp. rum flavoring
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. butter
Combine first 4 ingredients; cook, then add last 2 ingredients. Pour over baked bread pudding.
If you don't have cornstarch you can beat an egg in the sugar to thicken it but beat the egg in before cooking it. The longer you cook the rum the less potent it will be:D

Thanks to everyone who came....... to those who did not come you must make the next Deep South Meet.............. Come on it lasted almost 2 full days...... We had BBQ and talked and cut up and then today we went to eat lunch in the French Quarter and walked and walked to get to Pat O Briens...... then we went off our separate ways........ that was the sad part.... Jeanie and Beth came back to the house to get there stuff and then they were off too.........
I cant wait till the next one..... lets get planning......

I am SO sad that I had to miss this Deep South meet but I'm certainly hoping that y'all plan another one soon! I thought of y'all throughout the weekend knowing y'all were having a truly magical time.

We really had an awesome time, and it was great to see Bret and Sherrie again -- their hospitality is second-to-none.

For Jamie, Nigel Jr. and I, the plan was to arrive early to the meet and help out. Unfortunately, we mis-judged the amount of time it would take to get there, and ended up about a half-hour late. :-(

But, we had an awesome time hanging out with everyone. Food was great -- Bret sure does know how to use that grill!! We sat around for hours, just talking and laughing, sharing stories etc. Nigel Jr. and I even hit the pool for a bit -- it was a very hot day!!

Jamie and I had a family party to go to later that evening -- an 80th birthday bash that we were going to dress up for. Well, due to a "Wardrobe Malfunction" (i.e.: I left some of her clothes back in Florida :blush: ), we decided to skip the party and keep hanging out with the gang!

So...Bret and Sherrie were kind enough to put us up for the night. We're just lucky there was enough room since Jeanne and Beth were already staying the night there. :)

After a good night's sleep, we got up, rustled up some breakfast, and hung out some more.

As Bret mentioned, we headed to the French Quarter to eat lunch, then walked around and found Pat O'Briens and made sure to have a Hurricane to drink.

Yup, heading out was sad, but we know we'll see everyone again soon!

Yep, we agree, the meet was a hit!
I really enjoyed meeting Jamie and Rob. It is very strange just how much all of us are alike... I think Bret attracts some pretty strange women... and I mean strange in a good way. At times it was like looking in a mirror when I was talking to Jamie. She is me 10 years ago... and it only gets worse. I told her that when she grows up she will be just like me.
Even worse.... Rob remindes me of bobby about 15 years ago.

Beth did a great job of keeping Bret in his place. Just when he would say something a little annoying, Beth seemed to have the perfect answer that would shut him down. I almost fell off the sofa laughing one time. I loved it!! I wish I had the quick comebacks that you do Beth!

The food was wonderful. I have not seen Bobby scarf down some BarBQue that fast in a long time. I was a little disappointed that Beth did not get some FRESH garlic on those burgers for me though. Bret did do an amazing job on the food and Sherrie worked hard to make sure everything else was put together.


We had lots of fish eyes for Jeanne. I could tell by the look on her face how happy she was. We need to make sure she gets the fish eye pudding in October!

Bobby even had a wonderful time. He is always a little leary about meeting the strange people of Intercot. Well, he had no problen fitting in. And you Jeanne.... you were killing him. Every word that came out of your mouth had him rolling. I think that if we can come up with the funds to go on October we will be there. We have to get some bills paid off first. He wants to go spend some more time with you.... he thinks he found someone that can keep me in my place. Yeah right.

Anyway, We had a wonderful time. Bret and Sherrie, you will be happy to know that I did not steal anything from the house. If you are missing anything, call Jeannie. She had her eye on that mug all day.

Sorry we did not get back to the Quarter, Bobby was watching golf and I went back to the casino. I won... I Won!!

We had lots of fish eyes for Jeanne. I could tell by the look on her face how happy she was.

It wasn't the fish eyes that had me smiling like that. It was the great weekend I spent with some really good friends and the new boyfriend I left back home ;) You know, the one whose picture got passed around as soon as someone new entered the room?

I think we had something like 195 Photo Pass Photos or something. It was a slow start, but we finally found a few cast members who, when we said "We're buying the CD, take as many as you like", they kinda went wild! hahaha It was lots of fun, and we got a lot of good shots. It was hard to narrow down our 3- 5x7s.

I need to go look at everyone's pictures before I get started here at work....
