My cousin and her husband are planning a trip to Vegas. This will be their first (I've only been there one time, which is why I'm coming to the experts) and they are not sure where to dine. For now she says she's only willing to do the "chain" restaurants, such as; Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock, Margaritaville, Cheesecake Factory and Bahama Breeze, to name a few. But they are choosing these because they don't know any "real" Vegas restaurants. I'm feeling like they should be going to other restaurants to really experience Vegas. JMO. So, any suggestions as to good Vegas Restaurants? Thanks. :marg:

I've had a good meal at the Circus Circus Steakhouse, Binions downtown and Bouchon in the Venentian. A friend of mine highly recommends Lawry's The Prime Rib but I've never eaten there.

Hi,
I've never been here, but have heard great reviews about this place. http://www.hashhouseagogo.com/

They were featured on Oprah awhile back.

We love the Monte Carlo Brewery. I've been there many times and the food is consistently great and the getting the beer sampler is fun.

If they like authentic italian food there is this place called Batista's Hole in the Wall. It litterly is a hole in the wall and many don't know about it because it is a block off the new strip. Great food though and there is even a little old man named Gordy that will play you a song on his accordian (sp?)...very cute. The menu is on the wall so nothing fancy but very good food, wine served complimentary and not too expensive.

Thanks all! I know they are staying on the strip at the Luxor. I geuss they chose that hotel for theming. But they didn't hear too many good things about their buffet. And I know they will not have a car, since they are flying in and just getting transported to their hotel. Maybe there are some books or good websites they can find if they need more info. Thanks :marg:

I have not been in a few years, but I like Emeril's at MGM, there is a restaurant with a spanish-type theme by two women (they have a cookbook) at Mandalay Bay; and I like the restaurants at Ceasar's Palace. The Mirage has some nice restaurants too.

We also stayed at the Luxor before because we got a great deal on the room. The rooms are nice the only downfall in my opinion is that it is at the North end of the strip and a little far away from the other fancier hotel like Bellagio, Venetian, Mirage and The Wynne. They have to make the walk down the strip though because those hotels and casinos are gorgeous! There is a steak restaurant inside the Luxor that is good. I can't remember the name of it though. Everything is ala carte though and very expensive. The 24 hour restaurant inside the Luxor is good for breakfast and a quick lunch. There are lots of great restaurants inside the hotels but they can be a little pricey. I heard that New York New York has good food too although I have never tried.....Hope this helps:D

Hi there, I love Vegas, We are from Australia so our food preferences seem to be different to most Americans. We've been to Vegas 3 times in the last 2.5 years.
The Luxor buffet was not so bad. I actually managed to get some Vegetables there. I found it hard to get a good selection of Veges at the restaurants we went to in LA, Anaheim and Vegas. The creme brulee for desert was gorgeous!
If she want to stick to the chains, don't forget PF Changs at the Alladin / Planet Hollywood. We love that place!!!
Also the buffet at Flamingo's is OK for breakfast, the food is OK, but the veiw over the flamingo's, fairy penguins, turtles, etc... makes the food taste better!
Hope this helps.

The Rio has one of the best buffets in Vegas.

We just got back from Vegas yesterday. We ate at several different places, but the favorite by far was Top of the World. It's a restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere (106 stories) and it is a revolving restaurant. It makes a full rotation every 120 minutes and the view is absolutely stunning. It is a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it.

If you want to experience the old part of the strip, there is a bus that runs throughout the day, I wouldn't suggest walking - it's a bit too far. A neat thing we did on a tip from a co worker was visit a restaurant called binions horshoe. This place didn't open until 10pm & they offer a $3.95 steak dinner! Not a bad deal - steak, poato, & salad for under $4, & it was pretty good!

Yep, I mentioned this place to them. Glad to see it mentioned again. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Thanks

Since they are staying at the Luxor, the Luxor Steakhouse was really good a few years ago. Great service and yummy filet! Also if they like Italian, Regale in the Excalibur was a good find. We've eaten there twice and enjoyed it. I also have to put in a  for the Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian. We just ate there again in June - huge menu!

I visited Las Vegas for the first time this year in May and we stayed at the Mirage. The best food was at Joe's Crab and Steakhouse in the Caeser's Palace Forum Shops (need reservations), Maggiano's at the Fashion Show Mall and Wolfgang Puck's restaurant Postrio inside the Venetian shopping area.

The best buffet was in the Paris Hotel and is called Le Village Buffet.

ok so here's my :twocents:

The bugget at the luxor was awful when we were there - I would NOT reccomend it, HOWEVER that was 9 years ago and they may have changed it since then.

The RIO has awesome food. Any of the breakfast buffets are filling and good and you can't beat the price of 4.00 or less per person.

The best place we ate was at Fitzgeralds in old Las Vegas there is a place called Molly's country Kitchen (I believe) They had an all you could eat filet mignon buffet for like 6.95 a person with a full bar of sides, potatoes, desserts ect. It was great. The steaks were pretty much cooked for order so they weren't dry or gross. Those are my recommendations but other than the luxor everyone had pretty good food. There was a buffet at Treasure Island that was pretty good too!!! Tell them to enjoy all of the shows outside the hotels. They are all great!!!! (and free)
