We have never been there and was wondering if our kids 5,8,9 would like it or be ready to go when we get there?

My son loved going from the time he was 5. I would think your kids would enjoy it as well. Besides, I don't know if WDW is going to renovate TS Island like they did in DL, so you might want to check it out while it is in its current state.

When he was about that age, my son loved playing in the fort. :cap: It gave DW and I some time to sit in the shade and relay while he ran around with the other kids there.

We love Tom Sawyer Island. The boys can run and explore without much freaking out on my part.

And at the risk of minimizing our chances of "winning".... each day five whitewashed paintbrushes are hidden on the island.

Find one, bring it to a cast member, and your party gets a certificate for a family-sized fast pass to Splash or Thunder Mountain.

Love that!!!

Going to do it this year.....always heard good things about it and just never made the effort, and from what I hear and read, I've missed out....in 3 / 4 days I'll let you know....

My son who is five loves it. He would rather go there than most anywhere else.

I think the younger the better. My 9 year old this year decided he'd rather stick to the coasters, but both loved it last year!

Your kids will love it. You will love it. You get to take a quick rest, your kids can run around like crazy and blow off all kinds of steam. Then you can have lemon-aid and dessert on the patio at Aunt Polly's, if it is open. It has been closed for some time, but the rocking chairs are still there.

I myself didn't enjoy wandering Tom Sawyer's Island (but my feet were killing me), my 13 year old daughter found it a little childish for her.

I think that will be one thing that we might miss next time we are in WDW... don't get me wrong it was cute, but not for a 13 year old girl.

If she was 5 or 6 she probably would have loved it and I wouldn't be able to get her out of there.:cloud9:
