Here we go again...

What started out to be a wonderful Father's Day ended with my grandson being admitted to the hospital.

We had a wonderful day with lots of friends and family, tons of foods and fun.

My oldest daughter, her husband and the grand kids went home to New Iberia about 5pm. She called me at 8pm to let me know they were rushing Laine to the hospital because he was stung by a wasp and was having an allergic reaction.

They made it to the hospital in 6 minutes... they live about 12 miles away. When they got there, Laine was breathing but unresponsive. They started an IV and by the time we got there he had already received 3 doses of what ever they give you for allergic reactions.

He is doing much better but is being admitted to the hospital. He looks so pitiful... his face and ears are huge. I have never seen anything like this before. When we left he was crying which is a good sign.

I brought my grand daughter home with me and my DD sent me a text message a little while ago to say that Laine wants to come spend the night at my house.... that means he is talking!!!

If you have any Pixie Dust or Prayers to spare, he could sure use them right now.
Angel

How scary for all involved. Thank God they made it to the ER quickly.
I'm glad to hear that he's crying and asking for things... that's always a good sign for kids :mickey:
Pixie dust that he will be home soon.
Your daughter should get an epi pen immediately now for Laine.

Angel, Sending loads of :pixie: for Laine and hope he bounces back quickly. I know it's very frightening when little ones go through such an ordeal. Will add him to my prayers. Things happen so quickly. I'm happy to hear he's more responsive. Let us know how he does :pixie:

I just left the hospital and Laine is still receiving IV medication. His face is still terribly swollen and red.
My DD told me that every time they give him the medication Laine just starts bouncing off the walls. He ripped his IV out once and can not keep still.
When he looks at you it is like he is looking through you.... I know he is in good hands, but I am so worried.
I will keep you posted.

Laine was released from the hospital after getting pumped full of steroids... needless to say he is bouncing off the walls. I would rather have him running around driving me crazy than the way I saw him last night any day.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and pixie dust. I was scared to death and it sure helps to have the support of my extended family. :cloud9:

how scary!! but im glad hes doing good!! it really is very scary!!
my fiance is deathly allergic to bee stings...and it makes so unbeliveably mad that something so little can kill my fiance...
he doesnt leave the house without his epi pen!!..and that really doesnt do much..it just gives him alittle bit of time...to get to the hospital so they can start pumping him full of drugs...its so scary...
but i am soooooo happy to hear your grandson is doing good!! i wouldnt be surprise if they perscribe him with an epi pen...since he reacted so bad to the sting!..

I'm glad he's feeling better. Steroids do give you an unbelievable burst of enery. I know when I've taken them for poison ivy or asthma, I could do all the housework and yard work in one afternoon. That should start wearing off soon and he'll calm down.
And they should definitely see about getting him an epi pen and don't leave home without it.
