What are the top 5 souviner's you buy at Disney World and what are your favorite gift shops at each park or resort?

LandFan

I always buy their beach towels! They are plush and hold up well. At only $20 they often last much longer in the household than does a piece of clothing (that often costs much more).

I also love a shoulder bag I got there - I use it whenever we are out and about.

We collect a lot of the little stuffed disney characters. We have Jedi Mickey (star tours) and Viking Pluto from Norway, Japanese Minnie, Mexico Donald, Tower of Terror Goofy and many others. They are great and aren't very expensive.

I like keychains as well (expedition everest and haunted mansion keychains were our last investments)

Shot glasses would have to be on this list. They are just funny!

As for shops... I LOVE MouseGears in Epcot. I like the gift shop in the Poly and at Pop Century. I like a certain gift shop in Animal Kingdom but I can't remember it's name (it's by FlameTree BBQ).

Sighhh... It's time to make plans to go back!:mickey:

And a new Hawaiian shirt for DH.

Oh, and a Christmas ornament, every year.

1. t-shirt for all

2. yearly pin and ornament (and some special events too i.e. MNSSHP, if we are there for a holiday or birthday etc.)

3. pens and notepads (grocery shopping at home is less hum-drum with Disney notepad paper!!)

4. Mickey-roni and cheese...every time...no ifs ands or buts!!

5. Sunglasses! I always flt out of Dallas in the morning before sun-up, and therefore leave my glasses in their holder in my car...every time...no ifs ands or buts!

My favorite shops are The Emporium and the shops at the Contemporary and Grand Floridian.

I typically search for the strangest and most interesting souvenir I can find, since I have a collection of vintage WDW/DL souvenirs, and its fun trying to find stuff that looks like no one else is going to have it. And I always, always, always pick up a snowglobe, a coffee mug, and we have a tradition of buying an elephant in the AK gift store.

The best shops are MouseGears and the shop at the Contemporary (the one right down from Chef Mickeys), but I do like the shop by the Little Mermaid adventure in MGM...cute stuff thats good for gifts. I LOVE the shop in Japan at WS, but its not really Disney stuff--just hip, cute stuff.

Here is my top 5:

1) A 3-d photo frame - We started with a trip to DL and have kept up the tradition since. The ones that we get are the nicer, shaped ones such as the castle shaped frames with the photo going in where the drawbridge is located.

2) Charms for DW. I absolutely love finding a new charm that she likes. DW is very particular and we ussually end up going through every bin that we come accross. She has about 25 now!

3) Matching T-shirts for DW and I. This becomes an indepth scavenger hunt as DW can't abide the crew top T-shirt, so finding a scoop neck shirt for DW and a ANY t-shirt for me is a challenge, but fun!

4) Scrapbooking supplies that can only be bought in the parks! DW loves it, I love what she does with our memories, nuff said!

5) Home Decor/Kitchen accessorie - so we can have some of the magic at home!

Best shops: M. Mouse Mercantile at Grand Floridian, the shops at the Poly, all the shops at the Contemporary, Emporium at MK, MouseGears at EPCOT, Wilderness Lodge Mercantile at WIlderness Lodge, the shops at Caribbean Plaza outside of Pirates, and World of Disney at DTD.

1.I get a new ball cap each year.

2. DD gets a Princess dress. Last year it was Cinderella, this year she is getting the castle package at BBB in the Castle and will be Snow White for MNSSHP! :cloud9:

3. The kids each get one pin from each park, every trip. The pin has to be something to do with that park. (Just to make it fun ;)). For example, there will be no TOT pins bought at MK...lol. They are getting new landyards this year, theirs are full.

4. We started getting a new Xmas ornament last year. That will be a new tradition. Thanks Intercot!!

5. The kids each get a new hat or t shirt, whichever they choose.

We love The World of Disney is our favorite store!! Not that we won't shop in the others. ;)

ALWAYS buy one dated ornament and other regular ornaments that jump out at me (and there are usually many!)

New tees- I bought an awesome Tink one made of rhinestones last trip and a really cool Aerosmith one from RNR.

New tradition: a signed print from Art of Disney at Epcot- we bought a framed Stitch pencil drawing this past trip. Still in box from WDW Shipping, waiting for it's new home in our home office.

1) A t-shirt (I only ever sleep in it though)

2) Some Anne of Green Gables merchandise from the Canada pavilion to add to my collection

3) Postcards (I never write & mail them...I just put them in my photo album as those pictures are always so much better than the ones I can take!)

4) A piece of jewlery with a pearl from the Japan pavilion

And that's usually it. I don't buy much 'Mickey' stuff anymore, and luckily I'm not into pin-trading or scrapbooking as I'm sure my wallet would be a lot lighter if I did!

1. Magnets--brings back fond memories everytime I go to the fridge!

2. Pens--I am a pen fanatic and have to have pens from everywhere I go. Plus, they are great gifts and make meetings at work less boring!

3. Ornaments--Mom and I both get ornaments whenever and wherever we go. That way once a year we can look at them and reminisce.

4. T-shirts--my sister and I always get t-shirts to wear when we get back.

5. Keychains--another of my many collections! I love to pick up different/unique keychains.

Another popular item for us are the little stuffed animals, hats, and anything fun/unique that we run across. What can I say, I'm a shop-a-holic and WDW is a great place to feed my addiction! :cloud9:

The best thing I bought last year was in epcot (innoventions, I think). We had my then 3 year old daughters 3 -d image embedded in a glass cube. We bought a second one of the identical image for my Dad at a huge discount. It's a beautiful piece and I now have a 3-d image of my angel frozen in time at 3 years old!

Pins - I like getting pins from everyplace that I visit. I have been doing this since before the pin trading craze. Now I have to go through hundreds of pins to find ones that I like - there is a lot of junk out there now, not just at disney, but everywhere.

I try to find a nice polo shirt depicting disney each trip. Not the gaudy ones, but simple designs.

For others I try to find shirts and mugs that fit people's personalities. Not always the easiest but well worth the challenge. A few co-workers are Tigger fans too so they get a Tigger related item - never the same thing:tigger:

:mickey: We always buy dated pins and some kind of print and have them framed together. I collect the ceramic character statues, and try to get a different one each time I'm there. My DW LOVES to scrapbook each trip, so scrapbooking album & supplies are a must. And my DD pin trades and usually gets dated t-shirts and a beach towel (from each park/water park). And most certainly a dated WDW frame to put our family photo in.(we have one for each year we've taken our DD).:mickey:

What are the top 5 souviner's you buy at Disney World and what are your favorite gift shops at each park or resort?:
cloud9:
Top Five
1. T-Shirts
2. Christmas Ornaments
3. Key Chains
4. Mugs with Year of Visit on It
5. My oversized Tinkerbell purse

I have found that a lot of the more common souveniers are cheaper at World of Disney Downtown Disney than in the parks or resorts. However, sometimes the item is unique to a ride/store. It just depends on what you are into at the time.

I love to shop and seem to spend way toooooo much $$$$$$$$$.
I seem to buy more "DISNEY DUST COLLECTOR ITEMS" such as snow globes and BIg Figures. I also buy a T-Shirt to go along with the theme of the year and LE pins that are of interest to me or my DS for our collection. SOmetimes i bring home those CHoc. PB heads from the candy store on MAin street. DH always buys a shot glass or beer mug from Epcot.
I have no favorite store that I like at Disney. I just like whatever store that seems to have what I want that year.

We are usually there in the fall so anything Halloween. I am looking right now at the Mickey pumpkin head tealight holder from last year and this year we picked up the Halloween votives. We have also purhcased the HM tombstones one year, might have been last year? We also collect pins and always bring home Disney snacks.

Our favorite stores are WOD since we get our discount with our visa, also Once Upon a Toy, although this year was a bit disappointing since no new monorail stuff. Did they stop making it, I wonder??

1) Pins, I usually get about 3 or 4, depends on what I can find!

2) Pens, either for me or friends. They're a subtle reminder of Disney every day and they make great, cheap presents.

3) Anything else I find that interesting and fun.

Every shop is the best shop to me because I love to shop:secret:

Let's see - the top 5 would have to be picture frames, mugs, t'shirts, key chains and jewelry.

As far as stores - we love the Emporium and Uptown Jewelers at MK, MouseGears at Epcot, Island Mercantile and Disney Outfitters at AK and there was a great clothing shop we loved at MGM, I just can't remember it's name.

I love to shop and seem to spend way toooooo much $$$$$$$$$.

You must be talking about me. We always end up buying an additional LARGE suitcase. This year I have already told my DH that we are taking the 6 that the airlines will permit us to take (2 each) plus our 1 each carry on.
We buy beach towels. We must have at least 30 towels now purchased over our past 3 visits. This year we hope only to buy 1 towel, a 2007 towel. Yah right, like I will stick to buying one!
We use to collect the pressed pennies but now have so many that we don't remember which ones we have, so have switched to pin collecting.
My son has a small collection of the sport bobble head figurines.
I collect the scrapbooking supplies. I say collect as I never seem time to actually scrapbook, but I will have all the supplies when I find the time.
And for my 5th top item, I would have to say I buy anything that catches my eye!
For my favorite shop, I would say anyplace that sells DIsney stuff.

Dated pins, special event pins, or holiday pins.

At least one dated Christmas Ornament, often personalized.

Other Disney themed holiday decorations. (DW will often spend hours in the Christmas store in DTD)

Smashed pennies.

A hand full of napkins (not many just a sample of the design for that year)

DS has all of our old room keys tacked up on the bulletin board in his bedroom.

Believe it or not I keep all of the old paperwork receipts, bills, itineraries etc.

3. Something for our babysitter (if kids aren't with us) or our housesitter (if they are)---usually a kitchen item from WoD in DtD, or a Mickey gardening item for Oma.

4. Something cool from EC WS shops. Last few trips we completed "Ornaments Around the World"-1 from ea. pavillion...some aren't exactly "ornaments" but little figures we tied strings onto. I'll have to start over or think of something new this trip!

5. Kids buy different things, but we always get some monorail (train board at Christmas) stuff to set aside for gifts for youngest DS through the year (Monorail accessories, diecasts, playsets, figures, etc.).

I always hit every shop at DtD, at the parks it's random.

This is what we love:

Buying some of the WDW coffee. It is nice when you come home to brew some and think of the wonderful memories you have and those that are yet to come.

The Mickey Mouse Ice Cube trays. What a great idea! They were a big hit when DH brought them home for fellow employees at his work. They still talk of them years later.

Antenna Toppers are a daily reminder of the trips that we have been on. We love to look for others who also have them.

The last two things that we are the Magic cloths and mugs.
