View Full Version : Any extra pixie dust for my Mom? *UPDATE*

My Mom is going in for surgery tomorrow to remove a lump in her breast. She has opted to remove the lump and surrounding tissue rather than have a simple biopsy. Her doctor said that about 80% or more of these types of lumps are benign, but obviously makes no guarantees. She is very stressed about not just the results, but the surgery. She sometimes has minor problems from being put under. I am relatively calm since I know its out of our hands now, and stress will get you nowhere. She is planning to go to DL with us and the kids this August (she has NEVER been!), and she's worried about not being able to go. So if you have any extra pixie dust, please send it her way.

This is stressful, but I do pray that all the lab work will turn out negative. Please let us know.

Surgery went very well today - despite having to have 16 mamograms to get the site located and marked! When I left, she was awake, and even laughing. We won't know for sure about the lump until Monday or Tuesday when pathology is done, but the surgeon was optomistic after seeing it. So please keep those prayers coming! A couple of friends of hers from church came and waited thru the whole day, just to provide her/us with moral and spiritual support. WOW. So keep those prayers and pixie dust coming for a "benign" result! I will update when I know anything.

Sending some prayers and :pixie: for your Mom and your whole family while you wait for the pathology reports.

I was in your place exactly one month ago today when my mom had a lumpectomy. Just try to think positively (which is easier said than done) and have faith in the doctors' abilities.

Well the results are FINALLY in - nothing like making us wait forever. Its BENIGN! Yeah! Let the countdown for DL continue! She is coming with us in August for her first trip ever to DL! What a great way to celebrate!

Thanks everyone for all the pixie dust and prayers - the power of it is amazing!

So wonderful to hear the good news. Sorry you had a long wait for the results, but at least they were good ones, right? I've learned a few things over the past few years: one, that the word "NEGATIVE" can actually one of the most positive you'll ever hear, and two, "joy" isn't just something we talk about on holiday greeting cards, it's a true gift from God.

(Thoughts heading your way, Don, for your DW.)
