:twocents:So I went to the bank today with a canvas bag full of loose change that I've collected over the past 6 months. My DS & my GF also contributed a few handfuls.
Anyhow, the teller dumped it in the machine and the total came out to be $208 :joy::woohoo:

It's not the highest I've gotten (over $400) but its a good amount to pay for my Star Wars weekend souvenirs. :darth::trooper:

and now... my flight leaves in less than 24 hours :yay:

Oh I did one better. A few weeks ago (right around the time I was thinking of booking a trip) I started putting my loose dollar bills in a canister. I actually threw in a $5 and $10 as well. I figure I'll have a small fortune by the time my trip comes up in September.

We do the same thing but since I rarely use cash anymore (in the day and age of the debit/check card ), ours usually adds up to around $50. It's still a nice little chunk of cash to have. Have a great trip and enjoy spending that extra $200!

We have a Disney can. My son decorated it with Disney stickers and such. We do the same thing. He gets so excited about collecting and saving. We usually have a yard sale once before going too. He gets excited about selling his unused things for money and cleans up his room at the same time, which I really like. We are also going in September and usually end up with no less than 500 extra bucks. It's a great way to have everyone help out and gets everyone in the spirit.:mickey:

We did that too! DS was only 18 months back then and he helped me count the coins, (yes I hand-rolled them) so he got some counting practice and learned about the different coins too. It was so fun to have extra money we didn't know we had. We've since moved and before moving we cashed in again and threw out the big bottle. Dumb idea! I'll have to find something.

I stick my change in empty milk jugs. I also save my cans and return a bunch at once and then go buy Disney Dollars.
Have a wonderful time and don't spend it all in one place.

That bag must have been heavy!

I had troubles taking in a bag of change last week to the bank.

It totaled 50 some odd dollars. I kept dropping it, because it was heavy.

I can't imagine if my bag was filled with 200 dollars worth of change!

DH & I do that as well. Our credit union has one of the coin sorters, like the ones you see in the grocery stores, only they don't charge us a fee to use it. Anyway, when we finally got around to taking it in in several trips, we had enough to pay for our airline tickets (4 tix). I was so excited!!! Everynow and then, when I have DH's debit card, I will sneak an extra $20 and slip it into the can. I can't wait to take ours to the bank next May/June. It will be 2 yrs worth of saving for us this time. Can you say "cha-ching"

You should see how fast it works in Canada! We have $1 and $2 coins (Loonies and Toonies) that make the savings skyrocket.

We have a little stoneware jug that we keep our spare change in. It can add up quickly.

Congrats on your loot and have a great trip!
