Adoption Finally Finalized !!!!

Brandon has been with us for 21 months, he came to us when we he was 18 months old. He has been so wonderful and has brought so much to our lives I cannot even begin to express it all!

The adoption process should have only taken about 6 months, but there were paper mess ups with his birth name at the government level. Finally, a few months ago everything was resolved an we just had to wait for our court date.

On Friday May 11th I got an early mothers day gift - The adoption finalization for Brandon! He has been totally worth the wait! The judge was absolutely wonderful, and our families were with us for the court date - very special!

I truly had the most special mothers day ever, the adoption finalization of our oldest son, and the joy of sharing it with our youngest son whom we never thought we would have.

I think that that adoption is such a wonderful thing that you are able to do for someone. They now have doors available to them to open that wouldn't have been available otherwise.

Congratulations on the adoption!

Here is a poem written by my adopted daughter when she was 13 years old.
She got the idea from another poem she read,
so I am not sure this poem is entirely original.

Adopted Child

Once there were two women;
They never knew each other.
One I don't remember;
The other I call my mother.

One gave me life;
The other showed me how to live it.
The first gave me a need for love;
The other was there to give it.

One gave me emotions;
The other knows my fears.
One saw my very first smile
The other dried my tears.

One gave me up;
It was all that she could do.
The other prayed for a baby girl,
And God led me straight to you.

This poem has been hanging in my office since 1998 and will remain until I retire.
And yes, she is Nate's mother.

Hahaha! Brandon has already been to WDW twice with us, we are planning a fall trip to. Not bad, 3 times before your 4th birthday! He asks about Mickeys House everyday and tells DH "to go to work daddy, you have to make money for Mickeys House".

No, he would not have gotten the chance to go if we did not adopt him, not for a long time anyway. His birth mom was only 14 - bless her soul for having the courage to see the pregnancy thru and put him up for adoption.
