We've been here a while and think Intercot is the best thing since sliced bread for Disney fans.

But in looking at the toolbar for posting I was wondering why there is no spell check option? I am guessing the vBulletin software used for this application just doesn't have it as an option.

But I am so used to having other software automatically check my spelling that I believe I have become a lazy speller. It would certainly avoid a good number of easy mistakes.

I think it's kind of fun trying to decode some posts with typos. Spell checker would ruin all that!

I know for Mac for some reason when I miss spelled words, I'd get the red line under the word and I could just right click the word and I'd get a list of correct words.

Um... folks - there is a spell checker. The ABC with the check box above the post field - in the toolbar.

But when I have tried to use that, it tells me I need to download something. Downloading stuff scares me! You know John, not all of us are computer whizzes! :D

IESpell has been around for years and is totally safe to download. We've been using it since before we installed this software.

Okay, I'll trust you on this - you haven't steered me wrong yet! I'll give it a try.

Update:
Hey! Imagine that - it worked! Thanks John!

Hmm.. I have this new nifty Sony Vaio computer with "Vitsa" on it. It allows me to download the IESpell and use it in some applications, but for whatever reason when I click on spell check in the INTERCOT reply box it tells me to download it again. I can't use the right click option for it either.

Does any computer savvy person out there know what I can do to fix it? I seriously need it with my lack of typing skills..

Ah, my persistence paid off.

I finally figured out it was a Norton Security setting. It's working correctly now.

Whew.:whew:

Firefox also offers a Spellcheck add on...the application works wonderfully.

John...thanks for the info. Although it must be for PCs only since I don't see it from my Mac. But hey, it was good that we all learned something. Thanks again!

It only works in IE. Firefox or Safari won't have the spellcheck option. But, as Ray said, if you have Firefox you'll get the groovy squiggles whenever you misspell something.

Actually Gary....on my Mac using Firefox I a dotted red line under the word as soon as I type it...or mistype it.

Right, that's the Firefox extension. I was talking about the spellcheck button that uses IESpell in the post field.

Another option: Google's taskbar has a spell checker that works with forum postings. (It also requires a download, though.)
