Disney Channel Turkey launched in Istanbul yesterday as per a multi-year deal with digital platform Digiturk, which picked up exclusive broadcast rights to the 24/7 kidnet in the region. The channel will be available on a subscription basis, and its programming lineup will offer a balanced diet of live action, TV movies, animation and preschool shows, with Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Kim Possible, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and My Friends Tigger & Pooh all feeding into the launch.

Disney Channel Turkey will be under the management of Giorgio Stock, who also serves as SVP and MD of Disney Channel Italy. This latest launch follows on the heels of Disney Channel rolling into South and sub-Saharan Africa in December.

Meanwhile, Disney Channel has signed a new deal with cable operator Aster to reach 200,000 more subscribers in Poland. The channel has been beaming into 1.8 million Polish homes on subscription-based digital platforms CYFRA+ and Cyfrowy Polsat since December 2, 2006. And it established itself in the territory with The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Jake Long: American Dragon.
