Apr. 23, 1983 – The “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show debuted at the newly opened Tokyo Disneyland.
Apr. 23, 1986 – Ground was broken for Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort in Florida.
Apr. 23, 1993 – At a dedication service, “Walker Ranch” officially became Disney’s Wilderness Preserve. Disney and the South Florida Water Management District had come to an agreement in 1992, allowing Disney to develop on an area in Central Florida if Disney would purchase and preserve Walker Ranch, 8,500 acres of wetlands located 12 miles south of WDW. Disney will use the remaining area to build Celebration, a city themed after a typical small American town of the 1940’s and 50’s.

Apr. 23, 2002 – President Bush hosted “movie night” at the White House with a viewing of Disney’s “The Rookie,” starring Dennis Quaid and with Disney Chairman Michael Eisner in attendance.
