We went as Mouseketeers! We had shirts made with our names on it and had alot of people asking if we were REAL mouseketeers!:mickey: It was a not too hot a costume and we had alot of fun to boot! We are having dresses made for this Halloween. We are going to be little girls. They have Disney material and they are so cute w/bloomers even! We figured that you can be any age you want to be at Disney, so we are going to be little girls! Yeah!!

DD was Sleeping Beauty, and I made a T shirt- used glow in the dark paint and ironed on a Disney transfer.

As we are thinking of attending for the 1st time this Oct, is it necessary to dress in costume? If you don't are you still able to have the kids wait in line for the candy etc?

It's not necessary to be in costume, but it IS fun.

DH and 2 yo DD were Beast and Belle

I was Daisy (complete with 70s-era Daisy hat)

My girlfriend was Minnie

Her husband was Jack Sparrow

My and GF's 9 yo sons were the Blues Brothers. They were the only non-disney costumes in our group, but they were a hit. We even met and took photos with a set of grown-up Blues Brothers from England!

Well what would you wear on Halloween?
Your trick-or-treating at disney. The only thing you have to remember is you can't wear masks.
Well hope that helps. :mickey:

Last time we went as Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood.

This year, I want to go with Velma and Shaggy from Scooby Doo, but DF is balking because Hanna Barbera is part of that "other park." The costumes are so recognizable, though (not to mention we have them already), I think I'll be able to wear him down.

We went as the Dalmations. There were 6 of us. Cruella saw us and told us we were lucky that she was in a parade, otherwise she'd "get us".

I say go for it!

Friends of ours went to MNSSHP once as the Flintstones, and they said they got lots of good comments from Cast Members.

Whatever you choose, remember it will be warm that time of year, so choose your costumes accordingly. That was advice previously given on Intercot. We followed it and were very glad.

DD4 was Dorothy and I was the Good Witch Glenda. This year DD now 7 wants to be Pocahontas and I will probably be Maleficent or Queen of Hearts. Trying to get husband to dress up too. We also wore shorts underneath our costumes and took a shirt to change into when we got too warm. Stroller came in great for carrying the extra clothes. Got our tickets today for Oct. 16. Yahoo!! can't wait.:malef:

I've been looking around and want something VERY original, cheap, and not a lot of packing room...

Yeah.. I doubt that will happen.

I was going to do the tourist idea, but eh.. not original enough....

Not necessary...but SO MUCH fun!!:mickey: In fact, this past Tuesday morning when I purchased my tickets, the CM told us that "we highly encourage everyone to dress up--including adults." I thought that it was neat that they were telling people that. And of course even if you don't dress up, the kids can still get candy. (You can do this at the hotels on Halloween night even if you aren't going to the party at MK.)

I have been twice and seen all sorts of costumes. Our family dressed up as Tinker Bell (me), Captain Hook (DH), and Peter Pan (my son).

I laugh at the Fred Flintstone comment because last year we were staying at Pop Century during Halloween. On Halloween night everybody was dressed up. There was a grown man in a Fred Flintstone costume walking around the poolside with a pina colada in his hand. Looked so funny to me!:mickey:

Dressing up is so much fun. We have 12 adults going together this year, and we are all already planning our costumes everything from pirates and super heroes to Saturday Night Live characters.

I want mine to be SUPER Disney original... you know.. something themed from one of the parks, resort, or restaurant... not really sure what to do.. I have an idea, but I'm not creative enough to actually get it to work.. I can come up w/ a simpler... less cool way though...

Our DD went dressed as a pirate wench, and was invited, @ midnight, to ride the POC w/none other than Cap'n Hook himself. The photo of the 4 ft tall pirate wench and the tall, swashbuckling, and dashing Hook is one she will always cherish!!:D :pirate:

I thought I would add something else to keep in mind when choosing your costumes:

1. Even if you go as late as October 31, Florida weather is very unpredictable. It can get pretty hot walking around in a heavy costume.

2. Do not forget that you will be riding rides, so you want your costume to be able to accomodate that. Take me for example. My first year at the party, I wore a Tinkerbell costume. Not so lady like when having to sit down to ride Space Mountain in a short Tinkerbell costume!! But not just that, if you plan to ride Splash Mountain, you want to make sure it won't matter if your costume gets wet.

Just thought I'd share. These are helpful hints that we learned via the hard way!!

I usually just wear a Disney Scrub. But I make the kids their costumes. The best was when the family went. BIL was Jafar, DN was Jasmine, BabyBrother was Aladdin and my sister was the Magic Carpet. She was a huge hit!!

This is very good info! Last year I spent most of the evening keeping my 3 foot tail out of doors, etc.
BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!!

I have been doing a lot of searching to find costumes for us this year! I am so excited for us to all dress up at MNSSHP. About the only thing I can get DH to agree to is a pirate.
DD is into the Disney fairies :tink: and wants to be Lily, so I am trying to figure out how to make that costume! I think I'll probably go with Wendy from Peter Pan :peter: to keep with the theme and try to steer DH's pirate costume towards Captain Hook! :pirate:

I love the Mouseketeers idea though!

This was my 100th post!!

Last year - we went as Maryland Steamed Crabs - there was a group of 7 adults, wearing crab beanie hats that we purchased in Annapolis and red t-shirts. My Dad led the crowd with a shirt with a picture of a crab on it, that said "I'm Steamed - Annapolis, MD" - so people would get what we were.

My daughter and neice were both blue fairies, just wore blue leotards, blue tu-tu's and wings.

I'd say to definetly dress up - a cast member used his parade-route-masking tape to tape out a special area for us to see the parade, because they liked our "group-costume"! It was just an extension of where the old area ended, and a walkway began, but it was cool that we didn't have to worry about our "spot".

My tickets for the 10/31 arrived this week!! I am so excited. I thought I would share the guidelines for costumes that Disney included on the cover letter of the tickets.

And I quote...

Halloween costumes should NOT:
~Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportations system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
~Drag on the ground.
~Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.
~Be offensive to other guests.
~Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

it depends. first year we all dressed up in disney costumes. but now we wear those corny "this is my costume" type of shirts and jeans. it all depends. the little ones will definetly want to wear a full costume. so let them! it is sooooo cute. doesnt have to be disney related if u want to dress up though. this year, i might be a forest sprite!!!

Our DD went as a pirate wench. And after the parade (which is a do-not-miss), we were able to do several rides w/little or no wait...until we got to POTC. The line was OUTRAGEOUS! But as it happened our DN had a pass given to him from a CM @ SM for being in the control tower. So while waiting to be escorted to the front line, who should show up but Cap'n Hook himself! He even joined us on the final POTC boat ride @ midnight. To have a picture of our DD pirate wench and the Hook was, to say the least, a wonderful end to a Magical day!

It'd be cute if you could go as Spaceship Earth! I wonder if you could find a material that would make that possible???
