Well in a sense news goes from bad to worse. They have cut the budget at work and I am the odd man out for next September :( They figure they can get an outside support company for less money so they will not be offering me a contract for the upcoming school year. Know this makes me  because 1 minute I'm  next I'm :( and then the next I'm :joy: :joy:

I will be starting my great job quest over the weekend so plz send lots of Pixie dust my way.

Wow! Sending pixie dust your way! From the way it sounds, this may be a blessing in disguise. You could always work for the NYC Dept of Ed and deal with all the stupid stuff I deal with. From what you say about it, you will probably find something better than what you're dealing with now. Good luck!

Sorry JP, might be a blessing in disguise. Let's see who they can blame now for all their problems.

What do you teach? I teach in a school in East Orange (I know, not the best area) and we have a job fair coming up. We are K-4, but need some specials teachers too.
Let me know!

Here's some :pixie: from a confused student. America isn't very highly regarded in the education department (which is led, I believe, by a european country..) so it just baffles me how they can find budget cuts in teachers? as if school systems can aford to lose teachers... Sigh, I don't get it.

Hey Jeff, you can always come down here and teach. I wonder why we don't have enough teachers here. Oh yeah, that little FCAT test that is "so important".

So sorry to hear about this Jeff here is some :pixie: :pixie:
Don't worry I am sure you will find a much better job someplace where they will appreciate you more.
I also don't understand this I look at some of the teachers at my school and wonder why they even are teachers. There are such good teachers that don't get what they deserve and then you have people that don't even want what they have.
Oh well, Im sure you will have no problems getting a new Job :)

Hey, come here to NC. Ranked over an overs as among one of the fastest growing places in America, one of the best places in America to live, lower cost of living than up north, and best of all closer to WDW than NJ. Lord knows we need great educators here. And they're offering incentives to come as well.

Anyway, best of luck--education, regardless of the area is a tough area to work in.

Ahh! I haven't been around much lately and just read this. Does this mean you'll need my couch sooner than anticipated?

Aww.. kidding aside, I'm so sorry to hear about this. There is nothing worse than being forced to look for work. Of course this will alleviate much of your stress.

Yo man, I know I made light before, so all kidding aside, here's something that might feel like a light at the end of the tunnel:
My wife began her career as an Elementary Educator up in North Dakota, eventually parlaying that into working for the state of Louisiana at the facility where I work as the lead Training & Development Specialist and now into her current job as a Corporate Ttrainer travelling all over the world. My point? Teachers are worth something, and there are companies out there willing to pay for great people with experience & talent. You'll find something... Ice has confidence in ya bro!

Good point Ice.

I have a friend, who started out as a teacher and now works for the school district developing programs for our Provincial High Schools.

There are lots of jobs that require your experience. Might even be a nice break to get out of that environment for awhile if you have to make a change.
