Apr. 17, 1924 – Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Company merged to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, or MGM.
Apr. 17, 1937 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey’s Amateurs” was released.
Apr. 17, 1957 – The Disney TV show aired “More About the Silly Symphonies.”
Apr. 17, 1961 – Disney won an Oscar for the film “The Horse with the Flying Tail”, and Hayley Mills won an Academy Award for Disney’s 1960 film “Pollyana”, at the 33rd Annual Academy Awards.
Apr. 17, 1964 – Disney’s “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” exhibit was shipped from California to New York for the World’s Fair.
Apr. 17, 1987 – The Mark V Monorails debuted in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
Apr. 17, 1993 – The “Tahitian Terrace” restaurant in Disneyland’s Adventureland closed.
Apr. 17, 1994 – Randle Charles, 31, fell about 20 feet from one of the Skyway Cabins at Disneyland. (Randle Charles filed a lawsuit, and was later dismissed before trial when it was discovered he jumped from the cabin.
Apr. 17, 1994 – The Disney Channel Premiere film “On Promised Land” aired.
Apr. 17, 1997 – Gibson Guitars held a demonstration at WDW’s Pleasure Island.
