I have a little tip for keeping your camera close and ready to take pictures. I have a digital camera, which works best. I use a cell phone holder with a belt clip. May not work with bigger cameras but there are many different cell phones holders out there.
It works great, I don't have to dig it out of the bag or just have carry in my hand just in case. The cell phone case as a flap on top that velcros closed so it can't fall out.
Some people may do this already but just thought I would share a little tip.
