Can you walk from AKL to AK?

I can't tell from the maps how far it actually is between Animal Kingdom Lodge and Animal Kingdom... is it a walk-able distance? Or would it just be best to take a bus?

There is no walkway and it is further away than it looks. The only transportation available is a bus :(

No you can't walk to AK from AKL. There is no where to walk from the Lodge to the park as far as walk ways and side walks are concerned.

I actually did it one time when I was SO tired and just wanted to sit down somewhere. I found out later that you're not supposed to do it because it is not safe.

No you can not unless you want to walk places you are not supposed to.

I wonder why a walkway between the two places doesn't exist. Disney has created walkways between resorts and parks before. For example, World Showcase and the Epcot Resort Area is connected with walkways, and the Magic Kingdom is connected with the Contemporary via walkway. What is the reason why a walkway doesn't exist between AK and AK Lodge? I seem to remember a lake that is located between the two, but I could be mistaken.
