View Full Version : Year of 100 Questions: #1

I've been thinking for awhile it would be nice to start a new Disney game. I was considering doing "March Madness" again, but the new poll format only allows one question at a time, so that didn't work. I've already done "Survivor" -- it was fun, but others have kept it alive and improved on it. I did a "Deal or No Deal" a couple months back -- and it bombed. So, upon a minute or two reflection, I decided to use the KISS priniciple (Keep it Simple, Stupid) and have a game thats not really a game at all. Sounds a bit like the old Seinfeld show about "Nothing".

So what I'm going to subject you to is a bunch of questions. All you need to do is answer which you like best. I'm sure many will be one-sided, but I'll try to pick questions that may not have an obvious right choice. The poll numbers aren't important; the success of this will be in your comments.

Some questions may have monetary interpretations. Don't consider money unless I tell you. For example: Grand Floridian vs. Pop Century is pretty predictable, but if I tell you to factor in the expense, its a much different question.

The questions will come pretty quickly (hopefully about 5 a week) and will appear in different forums (mostly Theme Parks, Dining, Accommodations and Vacation Planning), depending upon the subject.

OK..here comes the first one:

Tomorrowland Transit Authority or
Walt Disney World Railroad?

Tomorrowland Transit Authority. I always liked going inside Space Mt and being pulled by magnets. :mickey:

I don't know why I love it...but there's just something about that train whistle!

Definitely TTA. It's in my top 10! It's so relaxing and fun to ride through tomorrowland.

For the love of Walt...I voted railroads.

I went with TTA. If TTA had a wait, I'd probably go with the railroad. TTA's nice because you can hop on anytime and get a quick ride. Sometimes theres a bit of wait for the railroad and it's more of a time investment.

The railroad just gives me such an overall good feeling! I like TTA also, for sure. But the railroad is the first park "ride" you can choose. You can get off somewhere different than you got on. It is such a nice break. I ride it often!!

This was a tough one!! I love TTA because of the view you get while riding it, but I love the Railroad and knowing how much Walt loved railroads sort of swayed my decision. :mickey:

Great idea, by the way!

I had to vote for the "couch with a breeze"...give me TTA on this one (but it was close). As I have said in other posts, I would have picked the RR, except for that one random Pocahontas moment...sorry.

I voted TTA. I like them both but I just find TTA to be more relaxing. A nice break on a hot day.

As one other poster said....

For the love of Walt.....nothing better than those trains. Specially when you are staying at the Poly and you can hear them from a distance.

Everbody loves the sound of a train in the distance, everybody knows its true...

"paging mr. morrow, mr. tom morrow, your party from saturn has arrived" - my favorite ride line

TTA is probly one of my most favorite yet randomly favorite rides.

i love the RR though, but its more of transportation then an acutal ride to me.

Both are excellent rides, and have a similar objective, which is to give a tour of a part of MK. While WDWRR has the advantage of giving a wider scope and having a more classic feel, I voted for TTA because I not only enjoy the spiel, but also because it has almost no wait or line to speak of, just jump on and take off! :mickey:

I voted Railroad! I love a ride and form of transportation in one!!! While I adore the TTA it drops you off in the same spot you started in.... so the railroad wins.... a nice breeze, a few minutes, and you are in toontown!!! lovely!

Both are great depending on the view you want. I am a fan :fan: of the TTA. Wouldn't it be great if it went all over the MK!

Tough choice. I had to go with the WDWRR, love the site of the train pulling into the Main Street Station as you walk up to the gates. It's an awesome site.

I chose TTA, because I am all about the alternate energy source deal. The Railroad has its place though, I love to use it as transportation from one area of MK to another, but I never really considered it a "ride."

There's a tradition in my family that if the park we're at has a train, it's always the first and last rides of the day. Woo WOO!

I actually picked the Railroad over the TTA even though I ride the TTA every trip, but not the RR. More of a relaxing ride.

This was a tough one for me. I love both equally, but I finally went with the TTA because it has more of a repeatability factor for me.

I love the train but mostly because it's such a classic . Between the two, I enjoy riding TTA more. Sorry Jim.

I love the 100 questions concept...

TTA all the way. And TTA at night is vastly superior that at any other time. Also, the "no-wait" aspect is very, very nice.

While I enjoy the RR, I love the TTA. There's nothing quite like grabbing a snack, and sitting back in the TTA for a run around Tomorrowland. I love the audio, and going inside Space Mountain (it's always fun to see when the lights are on-only happened once for me so far). It's one of those attractions that tells me I'm in Disney World.

Question #2 will appear shortly in Accommodations....

:mickey: Strange how a simple question makes one think so hard. Even more strange is that the question's subjects are about two amusement park rides, yet, I've been contemplating it, and analyzing the answers for the past few minutes as though I was trying to solve more important subjects like world peace and global warming.

In any case, I wouldn't change my vote (TTA), but I've now got a new apprecation for what a classic, and perhaps underrated, ride WDWRR really is. If you think about it (perhaps too long) the ride embodies everything about both WDW and the USA. :flag:

I voted for the WDWR. I love both rides, but I've always loved trains...maybe I'm a hobo at heart(it must be something to do with where I was born...Britt, IA home of the National Hobo Convention!!!!) Trains give me a feeling of romance, the old west...sorry, rambling:blush:

TTA, for a few reasons; it's a nice relaxing break on a hot day, I have many memories of going on this as a kid with my dad and last but not least it is responsible for me finally deciding to go on SM (like my dad really would have given me a choice anyway!)....

I was really scared the first year SM was open (I hated coasters as a little kid), so at my mom's urging my dad and sister backed off me. The second year the pressure was on, but I was still scared until one fateful day we were on TTA and SM had broken down - when we went through SM the lights were on inside (kind of ruins some of the magic, I guess) and I was able to see that it wasn't any big deal. I went on it as soon as it was back up and running!!

i cant tell you how hard this question was for me...call me lame..but these are pretty much my two favorite rides...but in the end i voted for TTA..i dunno what it is about that ride..but i just love it..and can stay on it all day!! :mickey:

Voted for TTA, we like both, but TTA is easier to get on. Finding a seat on the train can be tough, especially if it's near the end of the day and families are a little over taxed. There's nothing better than TTA at night-what a view!

The Walt Disney World Railroad is an interesting experience, especially for guests enamored with trains.

But Tomorrowland Transit Authority, albeit small and simple, is genuinely an excellent attraction. The views are nifty, the theming is perfect and the wait is nonexistant.

TTA of course because you don't have to wait and it's a unique attraction. You can ride a train at the zoo or most other theme parks but TTA is one of a kind. We usually ride it NUMEROUS times!!

I wouldn't vote. I like them both equally. I don't like choosing between rides. These are both great rides, very relaxing, able to see different parts of the park while on them. Nothing could make me choose.

I love to take the railroad from Main St to Frontier Land in the morning. I also like to ride TTA as an afternoon break from walking and the heat. It's relaxing.
