Has anyone had issues using their debit card to use as "deposit" for on-board charging? We didn't have problems with our Carnival cruise, but at the Beaches resort in Turks & Caicos, we weren't allowed.

Has anyone used their visa debit card?

Yes we did and we had no problems at all.

You can't tell most debit from credit cards just by looking at them, (although some do say they are debit or checking cards). I've never had one declined because of the type of card it was.

I HAVE had them declined because there are transaction and daily limits on what you can charge to the card. So it depends on your bank's rules rather than the type of card.

For instance, my credit union has a strict limit of $300 per transaction or per day on my VISA debit card from them, so I don't use that card as a security deposit. I use an American Express card for that, since there are no limits on their cards.
