EPCOT Dedication Plaque EPCOT Center Dedication Plaque:
"To all who come to this Place of Joy, Hope and Friendship, Welcome. EPCOT is inspired by Walt Disney's creative vision. Here, human achievements are celebrated through imagination, wonders of enterprise and concepts of a future that promises new and exciting benefits for all. May EPCOT Center entertain, inform and inspire, and above all, may it instill a new sense of belief and pride in man's ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere."

Welcome to the Unofficial EPCOT Discovery Center, or EDC for short. This is a project that has been in development since July 1996 and will continue to added to and updated for years to come. I first visited EPCOT Center in 1983, although I don't remember much about that first visit. However, through my various visits over the years the park has fascinated me - the technology, the architecture, the attention to detail, and the fact that the park tries to expose its guests to topics and ideas they might not immediately pick up a book and read about. I have, of course, been back countless times since that first visit. Through the years I have engrossed myself with anything and everything about EPCOT. Searching the internet in 1996, I found superb web sites preserving the history of Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom; many sites about certain specific features/attractions at any one of the Disney theme parks; or sites about planning vacations to WDW. However, I couldn't find any sites that were solely about EPCOT - past or present. So, that is what EDC is all about: a gradually growing archive of information about EPCOT for all EPCOT fans to enjoy.

On previous visits to EPCOT you may have visited the real Epcot Discovery Center. This facility provided an extensive amount of information about the park, its attractions, and WDW in general. I "borrowed" the name for this site from them because the name applies to the goal here: to provide as much information about the park and its attractions. (The real Epcot Discovery Center closed for good in the fall of 1998.)

Since I am only able to work on this site in my spare time, you can understand that the growth of this site will be gradual. I am constantly re-working pages to make them look better or make the descriptions more clear. Because I have spent so much time on this, I ask that you not use any of the pictures, text, or sounds on your own web site without first asking for permission. Again, thank you for visiting and I hope you have a great time here.

Have a nice tomorrow,
G. Cook

I need your help!

I'm trying to find audio cassette recordings and/or audio/video tape recordings of the attractions listed below. If you happen to own a video or audio tape of one or several of those listed, PLEASE send me an e-mail (EDC E-mail). I will use the recordings to be transcribed into attraction scripts for future additions to EDC.

  • Spaceship Earth (Original 1982-86 version)
  • Magic Journeys (complete video)
  • Symbiosis
  • New World Symphony (original night shows before Symphonic Fantasy and IllumiNations debuted)
  • CommuniCore exhibits
  • Any EPCOT monorail spiels from 1982 to 1995
  • Original Tapestry of Nations narrations (ran from Oct 99 to mid Dec 99)

And I'm looking for the following for my personal use only:

  • WEDway PeopleMover (1971-94)
  • Mickey Mouse Revue (video only)
  • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (video only)
